Howdy!

A good friend of mine named Doug Hamilton is moving (as of this coming Thursday) from Madison, Wisconson in the United States to Bristol, England. he is a fine singer/songwriter and parodist. Are there any venues around Bristol at which he might have a chance to play?

I'm sure he'll get lots of advice....the only bit that springs to mind immediately unfolk related is the airport is shut. Temporary runway problems. Tell him to check it out if he has arranged to be met there. He could end up being flown into Cardiff.

Every Monday night The Nova Scotia Folk Club I've only been a couple of times as it's a 45 minute drive, and I get charged almost £5.00 to drive back into Wales (The bridge tolls charge nothing to go from Wales to England, but you pay to get back to God's own country!)
Their website (link above) gives details of forthcoming guests etc.

If he's going there & doesn't wish to go in alone I can probably make an extra trip (preferably on a 'singers' night)

I know of Corsham Folk Club at the Royal Oak on Thursdays.

Try these links...

Apparently the airport is open again.   "Engineers" (probably actually labourers) were up all night cutting grooves in the new tarmac on the runway to allow rainwater to drain off.

I suppose they didn't think it would rain in Bristol.

Tell him to be at the Nova Scotia on May 28 and we'll buy him a drink. Or sooner than that, pop over the river Avon into Wales on the 31st of Jan. He'll be made most welcome. Llantrisant Club

Thank you. Doug said to send him an e-mail after he's been there for about a fortnight (to allow the dust to settle). I'll pass along the link to this thread.

Again, thank you.

If your friend has a blue disabled badge he can use the bridge free of charge.

Tell him not to forget the Miskin Festival at Easter.

look at cresby.com and tell him to webmail me from there, though all I know is on the site. Including maps.

The FAB website was down a long time last I looked - they list in Bristol.

The Cajun Festival is held in the Folk House (fairly central), Nova Scotia hosts an FC which books artists and DAMN is a house concert and - well see my site then ask questions.

I drop in to the Dragon FC occasionally which is a song circle type sssion. I have been to a few music sessions but I am based 26 miles north so do the round here.

And I do list a few gigs on an ad hoc basis and will include contact details on a subsidiary page (ad Hoc).

If he is into bluegras there is a BIG festival in late summer within commuting distance of Brisel (the way they speak it there).
