Subject: Elvis/ Love Me Tender/Nora Lee From: Shaneo Date: 09 Jan 07 - 02:00 PM This classic Elvis song is the same tune as Nora Lee in Ireland , or in America as Aura Lee . One version was recorded by Richard Hayward in the 1940s yet the copyright on Love Me Tender says words and music by Elvis Presley and Vera Matson 1950. Was Elvis being a bit cheeky as Love Me Tender is the same as Nora Lee/Aura Lee |
Subject: RE: Elvis/ Love Me Tender/Nora Lee From: GUEST Date: 09 Jan 07 - 02:33 PM The tune is called "Aura Lee" and is from the era of the American Civil War. You can comibine the Elvis lyrics with the original and end up with Bill Clinton's love song for Monica Lewinsky: "Love me tender, love my sweet, love me, Aura Lee." Anyone can claim anything they want when they register a copyright, but it doesn't mean it will hold up to scrutiny in court. If Presley and Matson had sued anyone for infringement of copyright over use of the tune, it would have been easy to prove that they didn't write it. The new words are another matter. |
