Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2007 From: Banjiman Date: 10 Nov 07 - 12:49 PM Ray, Phil the Landlord will let anyone "vanning" in the pub car park (which backs onto open fields and is quite pleasant.....with views over to the distant Dales) use pub toilet facilities etc overnight. Again, if people let me know, I'm sure Phil will also put on big, reasonably priced breakfasts as well....he' a good guy who is keen to get out folky custom which makes a pleasant change! Let me know. Paul |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2007 From: r.padgett Date: 10 Nov 07 - 11:01 AM A possible for me if I can kip in my van as I do at festivals Just toilet facilities? Watch the weather Anyone up for it? Ray |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2007 From: Banjiman Date: 10 Nov 07 - 10:24 AM Well come on down (or up!) on the 24th then Ray! Indoor camping is only planned for The Winter Warmer Weekend in February....but if anyone wants it for Nov 24th, please let me know in the next few days and I will try and organise something. B & B is available 2 miles away if Black Horse is full (I'm checking later).....and I only know of 3 vans planned so far so lots of room for more in the huge pub car park. If anyone does want a Yorkshire gathering....again let me know what you want and when(having never been to one) and I'll I'm sure we can accommodate here in Kirkby Fleetham. We're only a mile and a bit off the A1 so pretty accessible. Paul |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2007 From: r.padgett Date: 10 Nov 07 - 09:56 AM This Kirby Fleetham thingy looks interesting as does Nov 24th Sat night with B& B or camper or indoor camping couple of weeks time! Ray Padgett |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2007 From: stallion Date: 09 Nov 07 - 05:01 PM Good lord Paul you are a beggar for punishment but of course you are right Kirkby Fleetham would be ideal |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2007 From: Banjiman Date: 09 Nov 07 - 10:48 AM I don't know exactly what you are looking for but you could do a lot worse than The Black Horse, Kirkby Fleetham where we are just about to start Kirkby Fleetham Folk Club (24th November) and hold a mini fest in February. KFFC & Black Horse Folk friendly, large car park for campers etc, B & B....and indoor camping can also be arranged in the Village Hall. Just a thought........ Paul |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2007 From: stallion Date: 09 Nov 07 - 10:33 AM oh emma it took me ages to do that! and you beat me to it, I felt so proud of myself, yes I have camped there and stayed there, the camping is a small paddock opposite the hotel, they leave the outside toilets open all night, trick is for someone to book into hotel and then use the shower |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2007 From: stallion Date: 09 Nov 07 - 10:29 AM wot about this place?queens hotel littondale? |

Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2007 From: JeZeBeL Date: 09 Nov 07 - 08:24 AM There's a big park behind our apartment in hull.....I'm sure the council would let us have a gathering there lol..... In my dreams, in my dreams. |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2007 From: katlaughing Date: 29 Sep 07 - 11:42 AM Homeless? Jobless? Don't expect any sympathy from this lot; they'll just slap you down some more. Jane, sorry to hear about your birthday not going as planned. Sorcha, no, it's not. |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2007 From: Mrs.Duck Date: 29 Sep 07 - 11:22 AM Just to reassure everyone I had a lovely birthday. Geoff and I went to Whitby and then on the actual day had ameal out with the family - not quite a gathering as planned but I had a great time. We don't get out as much these days so I don't have the same sort of relationship with pub landlords needed to get a gathering organised. Should that situation ever change maybe it will happen again - who knows. |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2007 From: Catherine Jayne Date: 29 Sep 07 - 04:58 AM I agree with Rhiannon, you did a wonderful job Jane. |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2007 From: Zany Mouse Date: 29 Sep 07 - 04:32 AM Well said, Sorcha! As to Jane not booking anymore Gatherings, well I, for one, will really miss these - they were one of the highlights of my year and Jane does a brilliant job. Regarding the Black Dog - well the present landlord hasn't upset anyone to my knowledge and it was a great place for the gatherings. Rhiannon |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2007 From: Sorcha Date: 28 Sep 07 - 10:02 PM I am having a hard time believing this. Mrs. Duck books a party, the landlord runs off, shows up here, plays a sympathy card, hopes that Mrs. Duck 'had a nice party', wants a re book, not even to mention the Baby thing...rather obvious that this Gary isn't a regular Catter. And Jane, I DO understand about not wanting to be an Organizer anymore. It gets wearing. I'd gather that if there ever is a Yorkshire Gathering in the future that it won't be at the Black Dog? Restraint isn't one of my better qualities, is it? |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2007 From: Zany Mouse Date: 28 Sep 07 - 05:25 PM Oh Jane, NO! Rhiannon |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2007 From: Mrs.Duck Date: 28 Sep 07 - 04:09 PM Well hope things are looking up, Gary. No, didn't get to have a celebration do and not likely to be organising gatherings in the future. |

Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2007 From: BanjoRay Date: 02 Apr 07 - 07:55 AM It also clashes with Brigg Fiddle Festival, which has a very good lineup this year. Ray |

Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2007 From: nutty Date: 30 Mar 07 - 03:12 PM Sorry Jane, it looks as if I will be at Shepley. |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2007 From: Mrs.Duck Date: 30 Mar 07 - 02:13 PM With only six weeks to go I need some idea if this is going to be going ahead. So far I have only got a small handful of people who have expressed an interest. I know it clashes with the new Shepley festival and Yorks day of folk so maybe we should cancel? |

Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2007 From: Mrs.Duck Date: 10 Mar 07 - 07:32 AM We had this same discussion last year but the Yorkshire Gathering has always been the weekend before bank holiday and it isn't possible to change the date as there are already other things that it would clash with if moved. |
