Subject: Folklore: Let's Have Another Cup of Coffee From: GUEST,Pete Flood Date: 11 Jan 07 - 06:17 PM Hi All, It's a very long shot folks, but this Irving Berlin song - does anyone know if it ever became popular in England, and if so, does it appear in the repertoire of any source singers? I would imagine the subject matter is too specific to the American depression for this to be the case, but Glenn Miller covered it, with altered, non-specific lyrics, so it's not beyond the bounds of possibility. Any info gratefully received... Thanks, P |

Copyright 1932, the song is under copyright. I would also be interested in the answer. |

De Sylva, Lew Brown and Ray Henderson - Originally published in 1923), changing the lyric to "You're the Pream in My Coffee". |

Subject: RE: Info Request: Let's Have Another Cup of Coffee From: clueless don Date: 12 Jan 07 - 08:50 AM I remember this song being featured on the old "Garry Moore Show" (American TV show of the 50's and early 60's - had Durward Kirby as the sidekick, and had Carol Burnett as a regular for a number of years, her big debut as I recall). They would sing the song, and when they got to the end of the chorus ("...and let's have another piece of pie"), someone would get a pie in the face. Now that's entertainment! Don |
