Looking for some chords, too, if anyone can oblige, t'anks muchly. This song has been haunting me lately. "Don't you ever get tired of herding all those cattle..."

Not that I've ever herded cattle, it's an exotic picture to me.... well, as a kid I've followed the cows to the barn at milking time, but I suspect that's a little different.

"Tired" by Fred himself on Youtube.

If someone doesn't get to it first, I will get the chords for Tuesday, Bee. Busy now. Sorry.

Thanks, Peace.

Wish my dialup did Youtube. Nevvamind, Galaxy Folkroots will play it for me couple times a day. And Fred is on my mustbuycds list. If I ever get to town with money in my pocket again.

Dialups WILL do Youtube, Bee. It is just a matter of being patient. The file will herk and jerk along until it is all loaded.   Play it again and it will play smoothly as intended.

Just go on about your business while this is going on. Read a little Mudcat, read the news, whatever. It takes time, but is very doable.

Also, there are ways to download and view Youtube files on your own computer whenever you want to.

Have done that when I really wanted something, Dale, but my dialup often disconnects - I'm really in the sticks, lines are old and bad.

TIRED
Fred Eaglesmith

CHORUS: Don't you ever get tired of herding up those cattle
From low to high and high to low and always changing ground?
Don't you ever get tired of setting in that saddle,
Starin' at that western sky, watchin' the sun go down?

They say the blacktop's tore up right out through Topeka.
They're pulling people over and the trucks are movin' slow.
I got a friend out back. He knows a couple side roads.
The troopers stay out of there and the weigh stations are closed. CHORUS

They found old Ray McGuire last week up on Jimmy Ridge.
He was wrapped up like a mummy. He was colder than a stone.
They say they found his herd. He had them fenced and hid.
He had several different breeds and the brands weren't all his own. CHORUS

Thanks, Open Mike. I actually managed to get that youtube to load and got those lyrics from it, but I thought there was another verse at the first, something about taking an extra blanket, gets cold out there?

I tried to figure out some chords and got this far: Am Em, G Am. Am I anywhere near close? (Sucks to be a learner, sometimes, gotta get the training wheels off soon).

(Am) Don't you ever get tired of
       (Em)herding up those cattle
       (G) from low to high and high to low
       (Am) and always changing ground
(Am) don't you ever get tired
(Em) of setting in that saddle
       (G) starin' at that western sky
(Am) watchin' the sun go down

they say the black top's tore up
right out thru topeka
they're pulling people over
and the trucks are movin' slow
i got a friend out back
he knows a couple side roads

The chords repeat the same pattern for both chorus and verses. You got 'em, Bee. Thanks to OM for the lyrics.
the troopers stay out of there and
the weigh stations are closed

"(Am) don't you ever get tired"

However, just for a 'change of pace' on that line you might try a C chord.

Thanks, Peace, and I'll try the C change.

You can't imagine how thrilled I am that I figured those chords out. That's a first for me. I'd say YeeHaw! (if it was in my spoken vocabulary), but I'd likely just scare the cat. ;-D

It is certainly a thrill for a 'beginner' to figure out chords 'all by yerself'. One of those moments we tend to remember. I recall working out the chords to "Walk, Don't Run" back in 1962 or 1963. That was IT. Life just didn't get any better than that. Congratulations to you, Bee. Good one.
