Subject: RE: sidmouth 2007 From: Ruth Archer Date: 15 Jan 07 - 10:24 AM I'm only going to Sidmouth to see Housewives' Choice. I hear they're dishy. I don't suppose any of you are dairy herdsmen...? I'm rather partial to a man who knows his way round an udder. Ruth |
Subject: RE: sidmouth 2007 From: GUEST, Tom Bliss Date: 15 Jan 07 - 10:26 AM I just spotted that name on Mr Rennie's site - but there's no personnel listed. Is this the band that started out from a chance observation on the BBC forum? |
Subject: RE: sidmouth 2007 From: Folkiedave Date: 15 Jan 07 - 11:46 AM Subject: RE: sidmouth 2007 From: Ruth Archer - PM Date: 15 Jan 07 - 10:24 AM Haven't you had enough trouble with herdsmen to last a lifetime? |
Subject: RE: sidmouth 2007 From: Ruth Archer Date: 15 Jan 07 - 02:33 PM Honestly, can a frustrated housewife and sometime dairy herd manager not get a moment's peace round here?! I'm always up for vetting the staff, y'knooooooo... |
Subject: RE: sidmouth 2007 From: Folkiedave Date: 15 Jan 07 - 08:09 PM Don't touch the vet my dear - he has a gambling problem. Besides he seems to have disappeared. Come to think of it so has Shula........... |
Subject: RE: sidmouth 2007 From: Ruth Archer Date: 16 Jan 07 - 02:59 AM Enough about my love life - I think this thread is supposed to be about some do taking place somewhere on the south coast in August. I just hope Phil and Jill will have the kids for a couple of days so I can come down and wave my smalls at Housewives' Choice. I understand they are likely to be found at one of the bars in the Bedford, while musicians may be found in the other... |

Subject: RE: sidmouth 2007 From: Ruth Archer Date: 16 Jan 07 - 03:19 AM Now THERE's a storyline... Sorry, what were we talking about? |
Subject: RE: sidmouth 2007 From: GUEST,Ralphie Date: 16 Jan 07 - 06:10 AM Hello Tom Bliss. Nice try. It's a band created by mistake actually. Line up is as follows. Ed Rennie........Melodeons various Ralph Jordan.....Duet Tina, and Bass (Just for the mo) Alan Rawlinson...Brass (Various) Trevor Bennet....Brass (Various) Tim Normanton....Stringy things. Pierce Butler....Ridiculously Kitsch Drum kit. As for the name. The choice for the name was becuse, considering our age and ugliness, no Housewife in her right mind would choose any of us!! Not so much Bellowhead, but Hellobed (Don't forget the Horlicks love) |
Subject: RE: sidmouth 2007 From: GUEST, Tom Bliss Date: 16 Jan 07 - 06:14 AM But weren't you all flirting (musically) on the F&A board when The Bizes announced their demise? I seem to remember something of the sort. Anyway - get those names up on the website, and give my love to Goldaming, the place where aaa-aaaaah was born n raised. Tom |

Subject: RE: sidmouth 2007 From: Herga Kitty Date: 23 Jan 07 - 05:55 PM I have booked my room for folk week in the Bedford, with sea view (hopefully not of all the containers from the Napoli). I'll be in Sidmouth for the Winter reunion next month, 23-25 Feb. Kitty |
Subject: RE: sidmouth 2007 From: GUEST, Topsie Date: 24 Jan 07 - 05:20 AM According to Herga Kitty in the 'Pub names' thread, the Dove has been converted into flats, but if it is boarded up, maybe it is being converted. (Maybe one of us could buy the ground floor flat and reinstate the venue during future folk weeks.) |
Subject: RE: sidmouth 2007 From: GUEST,Gadaffi Date: 24 Jan 07 - 05:22 AM Could somebody tell me when the Anchor/Radway Reunions are due next month? |

Subject: RE: sidmouth 2007 From: Herga Kitty Date: 24 Jan 07 - 03:44 PM MBS reunion will be 23-25 Feb. Latest news about Dove is that it's up for sale, and Sidmouth Herald is reporting that this will be so it can be converted into flats. I've also heard that the debris from Branscombe /Napoli hasn't hit Sidmouth yet, apart from Press visitors driving wrong way up Fore Street. Kitty |

Subject: RE: sidmouth 2007 From: Surreysinger Date: 26 Jan 07 - 11:01 AM I'm skirting back a bit here - Ralphie - have you kicked Mr Rennie into touch yet?? Just had a look at his website which seems to be the only place where there's any mention of Housewives' Choice - according to that only two gigs so far - Hartley Wintney on 10th March and Godalming in November - what about all those lovely festivals..... and where's the "stuff". Love the (and I quote) "creaky" photos though!!! NB The reasoning behind the band name is noted - however, interestingly enough if you google for it, you'll find that it was the title of a paper for MINING REVIEW 8 No. 8 in 1950. The subject matter was "scientific testing of gas stoves (Greenwich Fuel Research Station)". Any relationship between that and the quality of music in the band??? (Sneaks off stealthily to get coat.....) |
Subject: RE: sidmouth 2007 From: Chris Cole Date: 26 Jan 07 - 12:46 PM Dave - great to see you are back in the mix. Was wondering about your recovery. Delighted to see you are back on the mend and look forward to seeing you soon. |
