For many years I have been amused by the alternative interpretations of well known
Initials like these

OBE (Order of the British Empire)____________ Other Buggers Efforts
MBE (Member of the British Empire)---------Makes a Balls of Everything
DSO ( Distinguishes Service Order)---------D**k Shot Off
Lotus ( Cars)----------------------------Lots of Trouble Usually Serious
TWA (Airline)______________________---------Try Walking Across
RASC ( Royal Army Service Corps)-----------Run Away Someones Coming
RAOC (Royal Army Ordinance Corps)--------Rob All Our Comrades
BUPA ( Health Care)-----------------------British Urline Pilots Association*
USA ( A Famous Dung Heap)---------------Uther Side Of Accrington*
KCMG (Knight Commander order of St Michael and St George)----- Kindly Call Me God
GCMG( Grand Commander order of St Michael and St George0-----God Calls Me God

* Sorry about these but I am Lancashire Lad

The CMG, KCMG and GCMG are the approximate equivalents of CBE, MBE and OBE respectively within the Civil Service. My grandfather, in Whitehall during the War, called them Call Me God, Keep Calling Me God and God Calls Me God.

One of our chief computer technicians was quite chuffed when I referred to him as our Senior Head of Information Technology. At least he's not the Programme Review and Appraisal Technician.
