I am jealous! My husband and I are most anxious to move to somewhere fairly remote with lots of peaceful tranquility. Your island off the west coast of Ireland's Connemara, County Galway, looks incredibly tranquil, although I DID notice no ferry listings from Nov-April! Rough seas, eh?

I would love to explore the old ruins and history of the place. Do you get many tourists, though? And, just in case we decide to "chuck it all" (hehehe) what're the rents like? May I bring my cats, dog, etc? We'll leave the kids in the States!

And, of course, I'd like to hear of any kitchen parties!

Blast you, Kat, but you beat me to it. My Grandda emigrated from Galway and I knew where Inishbofen was, but you beat me to it. The least you could do is share the bloody mackerel!!!!!! ***LOL***

Dearest Mick: I am LMAO!!! Hehehe, doncha know with a name like mine, I NEVER share the fish?! Mmmmm...maybe I'll let you have the head and tail! Power to the Internet! Before I looked, I thought it might be in Nova Scotia, but then I remembered a like word in the movie "Roan Inish" (Can't remember if I spelled that right) and figured it might be Ireland. Bless 'em they've got a great website!

I don't know how it's now on Inishbofin, but when I was there for a couple of days (4 years ago), they had twice a week traditional Irish music (and song) in one of the hotel lounges. Worth attending!

I'll be able to give a full report in early June, when I return from a planned trip to Ireland, including a visit to Inishbofin. If anyone has been there recently and has inside information regarding traditional music venues, I would love to hear about it.

Inishbofin, for those who haven't been there, is utterly, utterly beautiful. The walk around the west end of the island is sublime, the icing on a fantastic cake. Cromwells' fort, the runied church on site of Colmans monastery, the pristine beaches ......... treat yourself and visit it.
