Just got a copy of David Nobbs "Fair Do's" second hand ( for one penny plus postage!!) as I've had "Bit of a Do " for years but Fair Do's was Out of Print and the recent reshowing on UK tv More 4 of the tv version made me revisit the originals.
...but I digress...
In it there are many good lines that made me laugh out loud. This one, referring to the "Dale Monsal Quartet" could have been made for me: "they failed to make up in vitality what they lacked in accuracy".

LOL. Is that the group who preambled each song with things like "We now transport you across the Irish Sea...", etc.? I've read Fair Do's (yes, I know the apostrophe is wrong, but I don't want it to refer to MS-DOS) but I may be mixing it up with another book.
