Subject: RE: Beverley - Sun Inn From: GUEST,Deanie-Boy Date: 03 Dec 07 - 12:14 PM Hi fellas! My Viagra compadres have suggested popping down for a song or three. We have to meet somebody to discuss a wedding gig in January, thought that might be nice. Also, we're chasing a gig at the Sun one weekend. Thought it may help if the bosses hear what we do (albeit acoustically). I decided to use my superior technical ability to establish who's session it was before we pitched up. I'm sure Roy won't mind? Pete |

Subject: RE: Beverley - Sun Inn From: Sir Roger de Beverley Date: 24 Sep 07 - 04:21 AM A very pleasant afternoon yesterday. With most people away at Otley it was a small but select crowd - Oombanjo was small and I was select! However, the atmosphere was nice and the food supplied by the hosts was plentiful and tasty - the music wasn'nt bad either. Subject: RE: Beverley - Sun Inn From: Sir Roger de Beverley Date: 05 Sep 07 - 11:44 AM I had planned to go but was feeling poorly by the evening and had an early night instead. A couple of weeks ago only Mississippi John and I were there and last week just Tom and Eric, However, a month ago it was busy. |
Subject: RE: Beverley - Sun Inn From: GUEST,guest Date: 05 Sep 07 - 07:15 AM I was sad to see that there where not very many people at the sun inns acoustic night last night to support Roy, perhaps there will be a bigger turn out next week to support the good work Roy is trying to do |
Subject: RE: Beverley - Sun Inn From: Wildboy Date: 04 Sep 07 - 10:45 AM It's the acoustic song evening tonight, come all ye roving minstrels (and listeners). |
Subject: RE: Beverley - Sun Inn From: Carol Date: 29 Aug 07 - 04:40 AM Thank you kind sir |
Subject: RE: Beverley - Sun Inn From: Sir Roger de Beverley Date: 28 Aug 07 - 09:11 AM I can confirm that the new licensees at The sun were well aware that we would not be there last Sunday. when John N and I were the only ones at the session last Tuesday he made a point of checking that they knew and, as far as I could tell, they seemed perfectly happy with that. Carol had booked her birthday bash at the Tiger long before the Sun had re-opened - nobody was let down. Roger |
Subject: RE: Beverley - Sun Inn From: Carol Date: 28 Aug 07 - 07:54 AM We changed tne venue on the 26th and the new tenants were told about this by John Nixon, who would normally be running that session. The reason it was changed was because we were celbrating my 60th birthday and I had already arranged for John in tne Tiger to lay on food etc. long before the sessions returned to the Sun i.e. when the Sun was closed altogether. I checked up with John about 2 weeks ago and he confirmed that he had informed the new landlord of the Sun about this change of venue for the August session. |
Subject: RE: Beverley - Sun Inn From: GUEST,another customer Date: 28 Aug 07 - 07:13 AM I agree with the guest these new tennants are trying hard to bring the pub back not just for the folk people but for everyone serving a good clean beer and very nice food it was dissapointing to see that the folk people had let them down but still there was a good atmospheer in the place and we were still greeted with a smile form the staff. |
Subject: RE: Beverley - Sun Inn From: GUEST,guest Date: 28 Aug 07 - 07:07 AM I was very dissapointed when I went to the sun inn on sunday that the folk people had let the new tennants down and did not turn up for their session. Lets not forget that the new tennants would do anything for the folk people and this is how you repay them. From a very saddened customer of the sun inn |
Subject: RE: Beverley - Sun Inn From: GUEST,guest Date: 11 Aug 07 - 05:33 AM Hi thanks to all of you who went in the sun inn on tuesday night for Roys sun songs it was the first time I have been in on a tuesday night and enjoyed the music the bar staff said I should thank Roy for such a good night so Thanks Roy Thank you all and I hope to see you in there again this Tuesday |
Subject: RE: Beverley - Sun Inn From: Hand-Pulled Boy Date: 24 Jul 07 - 03:39 PM Dear guest, you are absolutely correct the beer has improved dramatically since my post regarding it's poor quality under previous regimes. It's a credit to the new folk in charge and I'll happily drink their beer in the future. Cheers! |
Subject: RE: Beverley - Sun Inn From: Wildboy Date: 24 Jul 07 - 01:21 PM Hi all, I'll be there tonight for some songs & real ale after 8 nights on the Guinness in Donegal. |
Subject: RE: Beverley - Sun Inn From: GUEST,guest Date: 24 Jul 07 - 11:05 AM Hope to see you in the sun inn tonight for sun songs what a good night I had last week thanks |
Subject: RE: Beverley - Sun Inn From: GUEST,guest Date: 19 Jul 07 - 11:18 AM I have just been reading some of the comments posted about the SUN INN, Beverley I moved to the area about six months ago and went in the Sun Inn, I must say that since these new people have taken over the place is great, they always have a warm welcome for you and has far as Hand-Pulled Boys comments on the beer I am a serious real ale drinker and the beer is top notch I dont think Hand-Pulled Boy would know a good pint if he drank one. I think there must be a bit of the green eyed monster in him!!!!!! |
Subject: RE: Beverley - Sun Inn From: Hand-Pulled Boy Date: 28 Jun 07 - 06:19 AM Sorry I couldn't make Tuesday Roy, it was my final nightshift..........................Yeh! |
Subject: RE: Beverley - Sun Inn From: Les from Hull Date: 27 Jun 07 - 10:48 AM Maggie and I were at the (somewhat reduced) Sunday session, and we were very pleased with the pub and the staff. They provided lots and lots of sandwiches and excellent service with a good choice of beers. |
Subject: RE: Beverley - Sun Inn From: Graham and Jo Date: 27 Jun 07 - 09:39 AM Pete - we have nothing against the Sun or the people running it, and wish them all the best. When we were regulars in the Sun it was distressing seeing landlords suffering from rent rises and high prices for their supplies from their own landlords. It happened time after time and was upsetting. Constant changes are not healthy for sessions and eventualy we found other places to play and sing. If someone can make a go of the deal they get with the Sun good luck to them. One couple made money on doing food and subsidised the loss on the pub from that. Someone else got by for a while by doing almost all the work himself and having no staff or partners. |

Subject: RE: Beverley - Sun Inn From: GUEST,the one Date: 23 Jun 07 - 05:25 AM ME & MERRY VENTURED IN, THEN PERHAPS WE ARE NOT PROPER FOLKIES,HE HE!GOOD TO SEE THE PLACE PACKED.PETE DEAN WAS IN FINE FORM.P.S. HOW NICE OF DEBS & LISA TO LAY ON A SPREAD FOR THE FULL HOUSE ON SUNDAY NIGHT. PIP & MERRY |
Subject: RE: Beverley - Sun Inn From: The DeanMeister Date: 22 Jun 07 - 09:51 AM I have to say I was in the Sun last saturday afternoon, and was very disappointed that none of the proper folkies had ventured in. This was always the main singaround venue, and still the best. Debs and Lisa have bought this pub long term, and I think we could have shown more support. The beer was good, and the welcome warm. Just a shame the nearest anybody came to a folk song was Skynnrd's Freebird. Good luck to you, keep up the good work, Debs/Lisa. Pete. |
