Looking for the lyrics for SILVER SEA (Could be SAILING ON A SILVER SEA) Some of it goes like this: Sailing on a silver Sea, A voyage through a memory. The Moon and the Stars now brightly shine.

Hi. I am looking for the same lyrics Wayne. It was written by a guy named Kevin Evans and his web site is www.evansanddoherty.com. They may be able to help you out. Good luck.

If you don't have any luck, I will ask him the next time I see him. Should see him in a couple of weeks. He and his buddy Brian Doherty are opening a new pub in Halifax, called the Auld Triangle. The Grand Opening isn't until October, but the doors open in two weeks.

Here you go:

Silver Sea

© Kevin Evans

Outside, the rain is softly falling
In the distance I can hear a foghorn sound
I draw my blankets just a little closer
My mind is on a ship that's southward bound

Chorus
On a voyage through a memory, sailing on a silver sea
The moon and stars above now brightly shine
The wind that fills the sails is a lullaby that tells a tale
Of all the things that I was glad to leave behind

The ocean has always been a part of me
I can feel the salt water running through my veins
I think of all the places where my ship will take me
But the thought of you gentle whispers gives me strength.

But as I ride, I look out my little window
A walkway was right before my eyes
I can see a clock where time is slowly ticking
How I wish that I could make my life here fly.

Kevin Evans, with his partner Brian Doherty(from the "Wee North") comes from Dungarvan, in County Waterford, Ireland. He usually makes a visit "home" every year or so when he plays a "gig" or two around the circuit. The best one is alweays at the "Marine Bar" near Dungarvan where he has many friends and former neighbors, not to mention many well-wishers and fans. He has written many fine songs including some about his former hometown and, of course, including the song which is the headline of this thread.

After listening to it again with fresher ears, I think that last line in the second verse says "your gentle whispers"

Now that I have had lunch and am a bit more awake (shouldn't do that sort of thing at 2AM), I think that first line in the third verse:

But as I rise, look out my little window

The Garrison Brothers first recorded this song( Eugene Byrne, Steven Wainright and Kevin Evans)    Occassionaly Eugene, Steven and I perform together in the Boston area and this is the version we do.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Outside, the rain is softly falling
In the distance I can hear a foghorn sound
I pull my blankets just a little closer
My mind is on a ship that's outward bound

CHORUS: On a voyage through a memory, sailing on a silver sea
The moon and stars above now brightly shine
The wind that fills the sails is a lullaby that tells a tale
Of all the things that I was glad to leave behind

The ocean has always been a part of me
I can feel salt water running through my veins
when I think of all the places where my ship will take me
the sound of her gentle whisper gives me strength.

--Chorus--

as I arise, look out my little window
A wall of grey is right before my eyes
and on the wall a clock is slowly ticking
How I wish that I could make my time here fly.

--Chorus--

Since the lyrics for Silver Sea are not yet in the DT, and George's GeoCities link is not functioning, let's try this. :-)

This is a pretty tune. Possibly someone can submit ABC's, notes or midi for these lyrics.

Hi-Ho Silver, here is where you can get the Real_Audio file for Silve Sea, as it is sung by Kevin Evans now with Brian Doherty. (Brian DOESN'T come from the same area as Kevin).

To the guest that posted he still occasionally plays with Steven and Eugene of the Garrison Bros, pass on a hearty greeting from myself.
Back in my Halifax days 77-78, touring with the Ferrier's,the Garrison Bros. were going strong and I often went to the studio (Audio Atlantic) when they were recording that album.
Ah, seems like only yesterday.
Cheers, Glen
