Dear Mudcat,

I used to have a double album with the above title, I think it was on Polydor, which features a great version of 'Lanigan's Ball'

Could anyone please tell me who performed it?

The Bhodran player is called Julia, (Woman on the Goat,) according to the chap who sings it.

Best regards,

Enderby

P.S. I need this track!

Yes, the Bards' version was a big hit in Ireland, after Diarmuid O'Leary (the Bards' singer) learnt it from Christy Moore, and issued it as a single. Although I like Christy Moore's version, I also like the Bards' version because I think the male/female vocals work well.

I had a lot of requests for this record - and never found out why.

It's actually a great record Dave - it's got a wide variety of folk music from many traditions. It's where I learnt many of my first tunes from and may even have stolen a song or three...

If I could lay my hands on my cassette of it (and if it's still playable) I'd be a happy bunny.

Does anyone know if this was ever produced on CD ?

I have an ancient tape which is on its last legs.

To Peace & Liz...

Please accept my apologies, I didn't mean to be rude, but I've been really ill.

Best regards, Enderby.
