Subject: RE: Lyr Req: dolly with a hole in her stocking From: Bill D Date: 25 Apr 13 - 10:23 PM Hmmm.. 'toes' don't rock... we always sang "and her heels kept a'rockin and her knees kept a'knockin" I once played that tune for 30 minutes on a recorder for a dance at a hootenanny. |

Subject: RE: dolly with a hole in her stocking From: SteveF (inactive) Date: 23 Mar 99 - 11:36 AM This is the sing "Buffalo Gals" which, for many years in the 1960s and 1970s, Oscar Brand used as his theme song for his weekly radio program in NYC. However, he changed the words to "New York gals won't you come out tonight..." and so on. I also heard one 'rockish' version that used the lines: Gonna dance with the dolly with the hole in her stocking Whose toes keep a-rocking Whose knees keep a-knocking Gonna dance with the dolly with the hole in her stocking Gonna dance by the light of the moon. -- SteveF |

Subject: RE: dolly with a hole in her stocking From: katlaughing Date: 23 Mar 99 - 11:30 AM Gonna dance with the dolly with the hole in her stocking hole in her stocking, hole in her stocking Gonna dance with the dolly with the hole in her stocking Gonna dance by the light of the moon. I think the next verse is the same except "her knees keep a'knocking" instead of having a hole in her stocking. My family has the sheet music to this somewhere and my dad probably remembers all of the words, if nobody else can help. we used to sing this all the time! katlaughing |
Subject: RE: dolly with a hole in her stocking From: MMario Date: 23 Mar 99 - 11:30 AM I'm pretty sure the one you want is "Buffalo Gals". if you put buffalo gals into the search box in the upper righthand corner of the sreen and press search you should find it. The DT has it with "gal" rather then "dolly" but I learned it as "dolly" - same song.... MMario |
Subject: dolly with a hole in her stocking From: bobaaron@mosquitonet.com Date: 23 Mar 99 - 11:21 AM Looking for the words to a song that had lyrics something like: "and I'll dance with the dolly with a hole in her stocking." And I believe it also has a line that goes: "and we danced by the light of the moon" |
