Subject: RE: Scottish Mudgather October 20th 2007 From: John MacKenzie Date: 11 Apr 07 - 10:03 AM Distance to hostel is about a mile or just under. Can't help with the late pass situation Linda. Giok |
Subject: RE: Scottish Mudgather October 20th 2007 From: Essex Girl Date: 11 Apr 07 - 09:08 AM Hostel from £15.00 per night (as above)I've still got to find out a) how far away from the hotel it is and b) Can we get late passes. IIs anyone else considering staying there?)Flights are from £50.00 return. The sooner you book the better as they steadily rise as the date gets nearer. Liz, with Limpet, it may be cheaper to buy a family railcard and get an apex fare. It was £30.00 return to Glasgow on certain trains. |
Subject: RE: Scottish Mudgather October 20th 2007 From: manitas_at_work Date: 11 Apr 07 - 08:10 AM I've asked Liz to find out the costs. Since she has more time off work than I do she can easily find this out! |

Subject: RE: Scottish Mudgather October 20th 2007 From: John MacKenzie Date: 03 Apr 07 - 11:58 AM MMario has donated one of his wonderful shawls to help us raise funds at this Mudcat McGathering. I thought that we'd raffle it separately, in addition to the normal raffle at the event. This will give other people the chance to buy a ticket and participate even if they can't make the gathering. My not very good photo's of said shawl are here Contact me if you want tickets, £1 each is fair I think. A big vote of thanks to Leo for this donation. Giok |

Subject: RE: Scottish Mudgather October 20th 2007 From: John MacKenzie Date: 19 Mar 07 - 06:08 PM I'll find out what's left Murray, the reason I keep refreshing this thread is because we want to make it a totally Mudcat occasion. If we can't fill it then we may have to put up with a few tweedy fishermen. Don't suppose they'll want to stay up till 3 AM singing and drinking ¦¬] G |

Subject: RE: Scottish Mudgather October 20th 2007 From: GUEST,Tattie Bogle on other computer Date: 09 Mar 07 - 08:57 AM Looking for this thread on another computer, Google asked me if I meant the Scottish MudCUTTERS' gathering! Any plans for this Giok? I know a few songs about peat! By the way, I didn't answer the question re the distillery. Having been round a few, not madly enthusiastic, but if everyone else is going I'll go with the crowd. Alternative for me would be walk around the lovely scenery up there. |

I'm still working on getting Manitas to commit, we won't know school holidays until September so it'll be too late then. We'll just have to go on trust and I'm sure Limpit won't mind missing a day or two of school. LTS |
Subject: RE: Scottish Mudgather October 20th 2007 From: John MacKenzie Date: 06 Mar 07 - 06:36 AM All single rooms are now booked in the hotel itself, doubles are available for couples and those who don't mind sharing. All seems to be coming along nicely. Do try and book as early as possible if you're coming as we want the place to ourselves if possible. Drop me a PM if you have any problems or queries. Giok |

Subject: RE: Scottish Mudgather October 20th 2007 From: John MacKenzie Date: 02 Mar 07 - 04:34 AM The Dalmore , the fact that this whisky was originally distilled by MacKenzie's, has nothing whatsoever to do with it being my chosen distillery. Giok ¦¬] |
Subject: RE: Scottish Mudgather October 20th 2007 From: John MacKenzie Date: 01 Mar 07 - 02:43 PM Bar might be a bit small for us all to be in there at once in it's present form, although Graham says he is extending it in due course. As I said above, the Saturday night will be a sort of concert format with people putting their names down for a spot, and then I will run it like a folk club, floor spots type format. It will be held in the function room with amplification if required. I wonder how many people would be interested in going on a distillery tour on the Saturday. If enough were I would arrange for the tour to happen. I suggest Dalmore, near Alness, as it's a nice friendly wee place, and about the nearest one to the venue. Giok |
Subject: RE: Scottish Mudgather October 20th 2007 From: Murray MacLeod Date: 01 Mar 07 - 02:34 PM well, that's my room booked. looking forward to it , I must admit. Giok, have you decided on the musical format for the weekend ? singaround, in the round, in the bar, all three nights ? or would a Open Mike type night on the Saturday be a viable idea ? Graham apparently has amplification available if required .... |
