Subject: Glasgow Kiss - John Petrucci From: GUEST,Tunesmith Date: 07 Feb 07 - 05:40 PM This is an interesting example of "rock music meets folk music". Can anyone suggest anything in a similar vein? I may be getting confused, but isn't a "Glasgow Kiss" a head-butt? |

Subject: RE: Glasgow Kiss - John Petrucci From: oggie Date: 07 Feb 07 - 08:41 PM Steve Vai "Whispering a Prayer - Song for Ireland". It's on "Alive in the Ultra World" which is a series of live recordings he did on tour a few years ago where he and his band wrote and performed a tune for each country they played in, trying to reflect the music and their experiences of that country. Some work better than others, "Incantation - A song for Bulgaria" is a showstopper live, I believe it's in 11/8 (might be 13/8, been a couple of years since I last saw him live) and rock in that time signature has no right to groove as it does! oggie |
