Quite often I'll click on a Blicky, and when I get to the target site the image is too large to fit on the screen. It extends off both sides of the screen. The problem is on the left edge of the screen. I can't get to the beginnings of lines.

Case in point is the link in the first post in today's thread, "2-in-a-bar (UK)" etc.

Using the slider bar does nothing; it's already all the way to the left. I can scroll right, okay, but not left. I can change the size of the image by using CTRL+ or CTRL-, but the image is stubbornly off center whatever the image size, so that I can't get to the left margin.

Just in case it's relevant, I operate on XP PRO, and Netscape 7.2.

Any ideas?

Try Firefox, a free download, and see if the problem shows up there as well.

Amos:

Yes, you're right. I find that Netscape 8.0 and Firefox behave properly on this issue.

Unfortunately, for other reasons I am not too happy with either of those, and I've avoided using them. Well, I suppose I'll just have to join "the march of progress".   Thanks for pointing me in that direction. I'll have to decide whether Netscape 8.0 or Firefox is preferable from my point of view.

Hi, Dave -
I checked the 2-in-a-bar briefly and didn't see any problems with it - I'm using MSIE 7.0.
In the past, I have noticed that Netscape has problems with certain aspects of Mudcat.

I've assumed the problem comes from a header or CSS style that specs things in pixels rather than percents on the page.

I get the full page at the link if I click up to full-screen (1024 px wide) but the right edge is cut off if I use a mid-size window that's only part of my monitor display.

The page should line up on the left, with the beginning of the raster scan, if your monitor is set up so that "full screen" just fills the screen without pincushion, ballooning, or off-center basic alignment. You might not notice that the full-screen image is a bit off if you usually operate "in a window" less than full screen, rather than at full screen.

IE6 or 7 has a check box at Internet Options, Advanced tab, where you can set to "restore to 100% zoom when new page/tab opens" that might affect how bad this looks - either on or off may be better for you.

Since you can't scroll left, it does sound like the "hardware" alignment of your monitor may be a bit off. If there aren't any buttons on the monitor where you can adjust things (prefereable with NO programs open - just your desktop) then you should have a "display manager" that came with your monitor drivers to let you adjust screen height, width, pincushion/barrel, skew, slant, and color temperature.
