I forgot: The unclear line is:

"Sweet forget-you-fumes are coming"

She said that lost children walk downhill and adults who plan suicide go uphill." Guest/leenia

That sounds about right to me. When one is lost, one should go downhill- there you will find water and if you follow water you will eventually find people.

As for going uphill when one plans suicide, that makes sense to me too. I would not want to be shut up in some hole in the wall where I couldn't take one last look around at the world, beloved no matter how flawed my life may have been.

It's a form of extortion - "Give me what I want or I'll kill myself and you'll have to live with the consequences." This is not an idea that we want to disseminate. Neither is it evidence of love.

Years ago, my husband knew a man who actually did that. There must have been more wrong with him than unrequited love.

FYI, I once read a book by Marilyn Greene called "Finder." She was involved for years in search-and-rescue and in finding abducted children. She said that lost children walk downhill and adults who plan suicide go uphill.

Title might be "There's a Hose there on the Right" or "My Eyes and Brain Grow Dim" or "From Here on Up We Don't Get Any Higher."

I am curious who put this maudlin song together. Was it in a suicide note?

Charley Noble

Here's another silly bugger
Topped himself in his distress.
Not much fun for some poor devil
Who's got to tidy up the mess.

Title And Artist Unknown
[possibly Jim Ed Brown]

INTRO:
To This Hill Above The City
I Have Come To Say Goodbye

Car With Engine Gently Humming
Doors And Windows Closed So Tight
[Sleep Forget You-unclear], You Are Coming
Thru A Hose There On My Right

To This Hill Above The City
I Have Come To Say Goodbye
Now Your Love For Me Has Ended
When This Night Ends, So Will I

Now My Eyes Are Growing Dimmer
Endless Sleep Will Soon Be Mine
I Can Hardly See The Shimmer
Of Those Flashing Neon Signs

On This Hill, You Said You Loved Me
On This Hill, My Life Began
And Before Tomrorrow's Dawning
On This Hill, My Life Will End

TAG:
And Before Tomrorrow's Dawning
On This Hill, My Life Will End
