Subject: Folk at the Oak! (Kent) From: melodeonboy Date: 13 Feb 07 - 09:24 AM Growler (aka Simon Barlow) and I are organising a folk afternoon (singaround style) at the Tudely Oak pub at Tudely, near Tonbridge. The landlord, John, is very supportive and is likely to lay on some extra beers (although the range of beers as it stands is already quite good). We've set a provisional date of Sunday, 20th May, intending it to run from about midday to late afternoon/early evening. I've tried to avoid any clashes with other folk events, and to leave a breathing space both after the Sweeps Festival and before the Kentish Horse weekend. Any feedback on who's likely to come, the suitability of the provisional date etc. would be useful. Growler will also be posting soon with information on a folk and beer weekend at the Good Intent, Rochester, to be held in June. |
Subject: RE: Folk at the Oak! (Kent) From: GUEST,Brassmonkey Date: 13 Feb 07 - 01:34 PM I'll come! As long you don't mind people who don't remember words very well and only sing when they're in the shower or really tanked up! |
Subject: RE: Folk at the Oak! (Kent) From: growler Date: 13 Feb 07 - 04:16 PM We've arranged for a shower to be installed in the bar, the tanking up is not out of the question, so we'll see you there Brassmonkey |

Subject: RE: Folk at the Oak! (Kent) From: My guru always said Date: 13 Feb 07 - 06:13 PM Have popped it in the diary wot keeps us organised, just in case we decide not to go to Chippenham Folk Fest which is that weekend. It sounds like you've got the start of a good 'do'!! I'll trace this thread but meanwhile, any chance of a Pub postcode for us that travels from afar? |
Subject: RE: Folk at the Oak! (Kent) From: melodeonboy Date: 13 Feb 07 - 08:36 PM The post code is TN11 0NT. It would, of course, have helped if I'd got the spelling right the first time! It's "Tudeley", not "Tudely". |
Subject: RE: Folk at the Oak! (Kent) From: GUEST,woodsie Date: 14 Feb 07 - 02:27 AM Sounds good to me and I'm sure my mate Dave Kenningham will be. We will bring our guitars as well. Hope that the Good Intent doesn't clash with Knockholt! (20 - 24 June)I,ve got to sus out the trains or a lift! |
Subject: RE: Folk at the Oak! (Kent) From: GUEST,woodsie Date: 14 Feb 07 - 02:43 AM Looks like the only way by train is into London Bridge and out again. It looks like a fair way from the station too! Will have to try and cadge a lift - any offers welcome |
Subject: RE: Folk at the Oak! (Kent) From: Essex Girl Date: 14 Feb 07 - 08:27 AM Sounds good to me, will try to make it, and if I do I'll give Kenningham & Woodsie a lift |

Subject: RE: Folk at the Oak! (Kent) From: My guru always said Date: 14 Feb 07 - 04:10 PM Thanks for postcode! 'Fraid I got the date wrong & we probably won't be able to come along after all as that's Wheaton Aston Festival weekend. But if we decide not to go to the Fest, we'll definitely come along & join you - you lot certainly know how to run a good session!!! |

Subject: RE: Folk at the Oak! (Kent) From: growler Date: 16 Apr 07 - 04:42 PM Just a reminder. The only time that you will be hosted by Rough and Ready, outside Medway, unless, of course, you happen to stumble on ' The Yalding Fair', this Saturday Morning. ( Hay Kevin I'm learning !!!) |
Subject: RE: Folk at the Oak! (Kent) From: concertina ceol Date: 16 Apr 07 - 05:35 PM errr? slightly confused with what's been posted above. Will there be a session in tudely on the 20th of May? And the Good Intent - is that the one in West Farleigh? BTW for train folk tudely is near paddock wood (or tonbridge I suppose) - about two miles as the crow flies and three by road. If so two sessions south of the medway must be some sort of record for the mid/westkent session desert that I inhabit. |
Subject: RE: Folk at the Oak! (Kent) From: growler Date: 16 Apr 07 - 05:45 PM Welcome concertina ceol, sorry about thr confusion. We will be doing a gig at the Yalding Farmers Market this Saturday Morn. The Tudely Oak on the 20th May will be a singaround, all welcome |
