Sounds like I missed a great afternoon, but at least I've got the rest of my garden back now. It took 2 hours to get the boat out and on the road, still more room for the BBQ!! 1st July, and 10 gallons of beer to get through!!

Passion you most certainly have Richard and you can definitely give a song power and presence too. Really enjoyed it, keep up the good work. BTW, forgot to thank you for your bodhran on Mary Mack, great stuff! Just wish I'd lubricated the throat properly so there weren't so many *insert own choice of description of problematical areas* in it!! I can usually sail through it after a few pints, but had only imbibed the one, a lesson learnt *grin*

Sir Barden, bless you! Will ensure plenty of hugs passed round to all & sundry at Bude and that the Port & Cheese is suitably taken care of!

I didn't think it could come back either Richard, but they are in a different place so it can I suppose. She's also susceptable to 'Cold Sores' and these are very similar to them, but the quack insists it's shingles. She's not gone to work this morning as it's hurting so we'll see how it goes.
Bob - love the reference to 'Dungeness' - must be a song in there somewhere!!
As to the Am song - no Dave Kenningham there to demand a rendition so I got away with it.
Hillary - I just wished I could have stayed to hear your lovely voice again. Have a great time at Bude next week, and hug both Georges for me, and of course the lovely Shirley.
John Barden

Silly fellow Woodsie. Fisheye can often be tapped up for an outing, and it would have been nice to see George again too. I suspect the Leopards could have put you in the boot, too. Cosy in there, it would have been, with the great Kenneth Ingham and we could have done A minor (not A flat minor, or rather several flat miners, I didn't sing that this time) before the Barden of England left.

Actually Woodsie, we ought to try to arrange a common (ie shared, not South London) version of Signed DC, and maybe some other great Love classics, to assist them on their way to becoming folk songs...

That and the Fish's "Who am I?"

Well, next time I'll try and get there earlier! Commiserations to Jan- Dungeness can take a long time to get over, hope she makes a quick recovery. A whole case was too many, perhaps? Thanks for the lift, guru! Look forward to seeing you both at other sessions- and enjoyed Bugger Bognor as a former inhabitant...
Oh and I probably ought to start a definitive thread- Richard, as far as I know I've not spoken to Julia Winn, though of course I read her jottings- the herbalist definitely isn't her. You'd be surprised how many people come up and say 'I know someone like that'... I just put together as many new-age whims as I could fit into two verses!
So great session, and thanks for organising it, MB- hope the gig went well in the evening. See y'all

Sounds like you all had a great time!

I managed to change my shift, only to find out on Saturday night from Dave K that Essex Girl couldn't give us a lift as she had somebody comig round to take the "Ship" out of her garden! I was so looking forward to this.

Thread creep setting in. I am surprised you can get shingles more than once. I had it once a while ago (as did Jacqui's mother) and was under the impression that altough you could in theory get it in nerves that were NOT previously affected, even that was unlikely.

Thank you Guru. I will never have the technical excellence of your singing, so have to get by on passion!

Sorry I had to leave earlier than I wanted but Jan's case of shingles came first.
As MGAS said what a lovely pub and landlords. Even if I was drinking shandies :-( I thoroughly enjoyed myself, and it was an honour to be able to sing one of synbyn's songs when the great man was there.I look forward to the next one, and of course to the visit of the 'Shiny Bum Singers' at the Good Intent, Rochester next weekend.

Lovely afternoon, wish we'd got there earlier but had chores to do. What a nice pub & Fab Landlord!! Good company, music & beer, one of the best ways to spend a Sunday afternoon. Well done for organising this!!

Richard Bridge: Sorry I missed saying goodbye to you, just wanted to say how I enjoyed your Reynardine!

Good to meet you Synbyn, looking forward to listening to more of your songs and maybe trying one or two myself!

Well met all, keep the Cat posted on more doings & we'll try to get along - earlier next time perhaps.....

Just a reminder: it's this Sunday (20th) from 12.30. The beer'll be good, the music'll be good and the atmosphere'll be good. If it's well-supported, this could become a more regular event.

In answer to your question, coel, it will be a mixed session and all are welcome: singers, musicians, those who just want to listen and even those who are only there for the beer and the atmosphere!

errr? slightly confused with what's been posted above.

Will there be a session in tudely on the 20th of May? And the Good Intent - is that the one in West Farleigh? BTW for train folk tudely is near paddock wood (or tonbridge I suppose) - about two miles as the crow flies and three by road.

If so two sessions south of the medway must be some sort of record for the mid/westkent session desert that I inhabit.
