Subject: Folkin' Ribblesdale... From: Dave the Gnome Date: 15 Feb 07 - 09:25 AM Just so as no-one can say they haven't been warned... It is the annual Swinton Folk Club lads weekend away this weekend. Affectionately known as the sheep-shearing weekend (I think they said shearing anyway) around 10 of us gather in the Golden Lion at Horton in Ribblesdale for a weekend of singing, playing, hiking and general debauchery. Nothing organised, nothing pre-arranged, apart from we will be in the bar Friday night, on the hills Saturday day and back in the bar Saturday night. Can't even promise that the plan will not change by the minute! Anyhow, anyone around the area is welcome to pop in. But believe me, you are better off out of it... BTW - We have taken over the bunk room so don't expect a bed for the night. No compasion from us, mate, we let two strange lads freeze to death outside in the snow one year:-P :D |

Subject: RE: Folkin' Ribblesdale... From: Dave Wynn Date: 15 Feb 07 - 06:43 PM I'll be there, I hate it,every damn year singing and drinking till the small hours from Friday then a serious UK style breakfast followed by being dragged round huge mountains (some of them over 28000 ft I swear it!!) by Dave Polshaw. Stumbling round the fells in the bloody dark till after 6-00PM then a session again until the early hours with 10 or so superb musicians and singers. I hate it I tell you!! All welcome, but the bunk room is full, there is a campsite about 200 yeards from the Pub that is usually empty in mid Feb :-). What time are you collecting me Dave, Gary will be there from early doors with his blow up sheep. I can't wait not to enjoy myself again this year. Dave Wynn (A.K.A. Spot the Dog) |
