From: Les from Hull Date: 15 Feb 07 - 04:04 PM Maggie and I will be in Cornwall next week (Monday 19th Feb to Thursday), staying in Newquay, on a cheap trip to the Eden Project. Subject: RE: Visiting Cornwall, anything folky? From: GUEST,Arnie Date: 15 Feb 07 - 09:07 PM My wife and I went to Wellington Hotel Boscastle for their supposed 9 o'clock session last August. By 10:30 we left as nothing had started and some drunken old dear kept accosting us and blowing cigarette smoke all over us! The folk club was supposed to have happened at one end of the bar but obviously whoever runs it had forgotten to turn up, as had the audience. Nice beer though.... |

Subject: RE: Visiting Cornwall, anything folky? From: Hawker Date: 16 Feb 07 - 03:53 AM Arnie, That is why I have where possible posted phone numbers, so that if Les wishes to go he can give a quick ring to check if it is on. Can't promise anything Les, as I have my plaster off next Wednesday, but if you do decide to try Boscastle or Trewarmet let me know and I will see if we can come and meet you. Cheers, Lucy |
Subject: RE: Visiting Cornwall, anything folky? From: bubblyrat Date: 16 Feb 07 - 04:43 AM Hawker ! Have you ever come across a bloke called Bill Dordoy down your way ?? He used to live in Redruth. He was very good at doing 'comic' songs like 'proper copper coffee-pot' and'Dirty old phone box in Finsbury Park' ( Say who you are love, and not 'ello ) !! I haven"t heard ANYONE do that in years !! |
Subject: RE: Visiting Cornwall, anything folky? From: Les from Hull Date: 16 Feb 07 - 04:38 PM Thanks Lucy. It looks a bit difficult 'cos we don't have transport of our own and public transport might be a bit problematical. But we haven't given up. |
Subject: RE: Visiting Cornwall, anything folky? From: Hawker Date: 17 Feb 07 - 12:34 PM Hi Les, Thats a bummer and does make it difficult, cornwall is not an easy county to move about in by public transport. Have a good time, I am sure you will find something! Cheers, Lucy |
