Subject: Lyr Req: Folk Music Is Boring
From: Jim Krause
Date: 15 Feb 07 - 11:59 PM

I just got back from string band rehearsal, and one of the guys was singing a partially remembered song containing the chorus

"Nobody comes to the coffeehouse
Because folk music is boring
Boring
Folk music is boring."

Does any one know the source of this song, and the rest of the lyrics?

Thanks
Jim

That sounds like something Utah Phillips said.

Andrew Calhoun wrote it and recorded it on Waterbug records. Check their website or his.

It was also printed in Sing Out several years ago. Andrew has been singing it for years.

I think the song y'all have in mind is FOLKSINGERS ARE BORING, which is in the DT (click the link).
