Subject: Lyr Req: Love of a Tree & Tears of the Grandmothe From: Linen Date: 18 Feb 07 - 10:03 PM Years ago I had a cassette tape, I think by Barb Dunn, with these two songs on it. I want to return these songs to my repertoire. Can anyone help me get recordings, or even just lyrics to them? Also, does anyone know if Barb Dunn has other recordings. Google finds a Barb Dunn in Syracuse NY in the 70's writing for a Peace and Justice newsletter. The friend who gave me the tape knew Barb in upstate NY, so this is probably the songwriter. Later I heard she'd moved south, maybe to Virginia. Many thanks. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Love of a Tree & Tears of the Grandmother From: WyoWoman Date: 22 Feb 07 - 05:24 PM Have you tried searching the Digital Tradition for it? Other Mudcateers are better at this than I am, but I think if you just go to the search window and type in the song name, you might come up with something. Check the FAQs for how to do the search ... I'll go let kat know that you need help with a search. She's a search wizard ... --Wyo |

Subject: RE: Req:Love of a Tree & Tears of the Grandmother-Dunn From: Joe Offer Date: 22 Feb 07 - 06:11 PM Hi, Linen - I did some fancy searching and didn't find either song. I added "Dunn" to the thread title in case that might ring a bell with somebody. Or maybe somebody can do some fancier searching.... -Joe- |

Subject: RE: Req:Love of a Tree & Tears of the Grandmother- From: katlaughing Date: 23 Feb 07 - 12:16 AM HeyaWyo, thanks for the compliment and the email. I had tried to find something when Linen first posted this, but no luck on the MUdcat or google. Tonight, I went looking, again, and found a company, King's Music Store, which lists an album of all songs by a Barbara Dunn. Linen, just CLICK HERE and scroll down to the first listed album on the left. There isn't a track listing, but maybe if you contact them, they would help. Please let us know and good luck! All the best, kat |

Subject: RE: Req:Love of a Tree & Tears of the Grandmother-Dunn From: Jim Dixon Date: 07 Mar 07 - 08:32 AM The Sallie Bingham Center for Women's History and Culture at Duke University lists an album called "Tears of the Grandmothers," but gives no further information. The song MY COUNTRY recorded by The New Model Army in 1984 contains the phrase "tears of all our grandmothers." There is a singer/songwriter and music therapist in Clinton, Washington named Barbara Dunn. There is also a Texas country music singer named Barbara Dunn. |

Subject: RE: Req:Love of a Tree & Tears of the Grandmother- From: GUEST,Guest Date: 14 Apr 08 - 01:03 PM Linen, I had this tape, knew Barb and several of the artists on the tape. I saw her perform live many times, back in the late 80s when I was in college in Syracuse. I stupidly loaned the tape to a woman who refuses to return it. If I ever get it back, or learn of how to find another version of it, I'll let you know. BUt so far I too have been luckless! |
