Only version of this tune I've ever heard
was by band known as 'Greasy Wheels';
a very charming piece. Never forgot the tune,
but can't remember all of the lyrics.

"Whatever happened to romance ?
Did it end with the girl who said,"No Chance"

etc..

Allmusic.com lists a band called Greezy Wheels (note spelling) that was active in the 1970s. It lists 2 albums: "Just Love Dem 'ol Greezy Wheels," 1975; and "Radio Radials," 1976. It gives a track listing for the latter album only. None of the titles seem to resemble what you've asked for.

It was on the first album: "Jus' Loves Dem Ol' Greezy Wheels."

WHATEVER HAPPENED TO ROMANCE
(songwriter ???)

Whatever happened to romance?
Did it leave with the girl who said "no chance"?
Did it become of late like the Saturday date
and the once upon a time slow dance?

Man the girl's got to have a reason
to make spring the lovin' season
Cause it isn't enough when you're all in a huff
Sayin' women don't take to teasing.

Oh romance take a chance, be a man to your favorite lady
Wise up to it, rise up, let her get off to callin you baby
And if you're sincere you probably won't hear a peep
of the whining and sighin, of the lady cryin'
'bout the balance of what's sowed and what's reaped

Verse 3, not sure that I have it perfect, but I used to sing this song a long time ago...

Now don't you fear that it'll get too deep
Cause if you're sincere, you probably won't hear a peep
Of the whinin' and the sighin' and the lady's cryin'
'bout the balance of what's sown and what's reaped

That last correction is accurate. I would add one more, as I remember it:
"wise up to it, size up, let her get off to... etc. I had both albums. Donated them to radio station KRRC, I think.
Wish I could find chords for this one.

( ...mostly accurate anyway.) I think it's actually:
"by the balance of what's sowed and what's reaped"
Great tune. Thanks for this thread!

What about posting the chords for this song?? Someone?? I will try in the midtime!!
Also, I have the digital album to upload.... in the midtime... jaja little busy right now..

Here the full song:

They say that into every life
a little rain must fall
Tell me then why does it seem
my life is getting it all

Do I try to hide
Or not enough
To find what my heart needs

Or has a whole world just for God
where the road to romance leads...

Wise up to it, rise up, let her get off to callin' you baby

You don't fear that it would get too deep
'Cause if you're sincere you probably won't hear a peep
of the whining and sighin', of the lady cryin'
'bout the balance of what's sowed and what's reaped

Oh romance take a chance, be a man to your favorite lady
Wise up to it, rise up, let her get off to callin' you baby

Here it goes, formatted:

Greezy Wheels - (Whatever happened to) Romance

They say that into every life
A little rain must fall
Tell me then why does it seem
My life is getting it all?

Do I try to hide, or not enough?
To find what my heart needs?
Or has a whole world just for God
where the road to romance leads?

Whatever happened to romance?
Did it leave with the girl who said "no chance"?
Did it become of late like the Saturday date
and the once upon a time slow dance?

Man the girl's got to have a reason
To make spring the lovin' season
'Cause it isn't enough when you're all in a huff
Sayin' women don't take to teasing.

Oh romance! Take a chance! Be a man to your favorite lady
Wise up to it! Rise up! Let her get off to callin' you baby

You don't fear that it would get too deep
'Cause if you're sincere you probably won't hear a peep
of the whining and sighin', of the lady cryin'
'Bout the balance of what's sowed and what's reaped

Oh romance! Take a chance! Be a man to your favorite lady
Wise up to it! Rise up! Let her get off to callin' you baby
