The sing-a-round that we used to do at The Royal Marine public house in Walton on the Naze Essex as been moved to The Royal Albion public house in Walton. The reason for this move is change of ownership. The new owner of The Marine does not want "Folk Music" in his pub.CRAPIEOKE is ok though. The first sing-a-round is FRI 2nd March. This will also be the new venue for the Milbay Folk Club. Anyone in the area are invited to attend,the more the merrier, we need the support to ensure that our new venue owners can see this as a worthwhile venture. Our sing-a-rounds have always been friendly laid back affairs. All musicians and singers are most welcome.

I'd heard there were problems.   A shame about the Royal Marine. I hope the ban proves a mistake, and I suspect it might well. During the folk festival it was always heaving with thirsty, but pretty well behaved customers. The Royal Albion has never struck me as very welcoming, downstairs anyway, but needs must.

Have the Royal Marine Morris had to change their name?

To Mcgrath of Harlow, The Royal Marine Morris disbanded a few years ago for different reasons. We have over the past few years started a molly dance side, The Soken Molly, A shanty singing side, The Royal Marine Shanty Crew although the latter is about to change its name. Soken Molly as got its own web site if you are interested.
