Subject: Tech: LightScribe From: Jim Lad Date: 25 Feb 07 - 08:04 PM Am I the last to know? I just got the HP model. Burn your disc, flip it over and burn your label. Great Stuff! |

Subject: RE: Tech: LightScribe From: Stilly River Sage Date: 25 Feb 07 - 09:12 PM Most of the HP computers come with it now. I've had it in my HP for years and I've never yet bothered to fool with that top part of it. The disks were more expensive at first, though they're coming down with the numbers of folks using it. Rather than fool with designing a cover to burn, I get out my Sharpie and scribble on the name of the contents. SRS |

Subject: RE: Tech: LightScribe From: IvanB Date: 26 Feb 07 - 01:23 PM If you have a special use such as Amergin described, they're great. But, as dick greenhaus says, they're verrrrrry slow (about 20 min to burn a label on my 52x burner, about 6-8 times as long as burning the CD) and, unless you can find the occasional "deal" at Best Buy or the like, quite a bit more expensive. Keep in mind, the label produced is monochrome (black on whatever background color the CD/DVD is). I've created a few discs, such as a set of mp3 CD's for the car, that I took the trouble to create LightScribe labels for, but, for backup and other casual use, an appropriate marker is my label of choice. |
Subject: RE: Tech: LightScribe From: Bill D Date: 26 Feb 07 - 01:36 PM I have one...never used the 'scribe' aspect yet. I guess I'll experiment with the sample they gave me.... |
Subject: RE: Tech: LightScribe From: Jim Lad Date: 26 Feb 07 - 02:36 PM I just reproduced five copies of my wife's album and the results are excellent. Her artwork was black and silver and the reproduction is black and Gold. There are different coloured discs also. It's a little expensive for personal use but an excellent tool for those reproducing their own albums and a far cry from the paper labels. |
