Is anyone familiar with this version, recorded some years ago and still around on tape, I believe? Ideally, I'd like to know her source - but even a verse or two might help.

Regards

None of the versions in this thread will do?

Donal Og

Problem is - I don't know! Ideally, I need a transcript of what she sings, and/or info as to where it comes from. It wouldn't surprise me if it were theh "Ceol na nOilean" version -but that's a guess.

Regards

Don't know anything about Caitlin. But if you get some further info, let me know if it would help if I scan in the version in Peter Kennedy's book.

I can't help with the transcription, but Caitlín Maude's album has been available on CD from Gael Linn since 2003.

OK. I've now got a partial transcription and am trying to find out what I can about it.

The most complete looking version I can find in my own collection is in "Ceol na nOilean", published 1931. Only 3 of the 10 verses Caitlin sings/speaks correspond to verses in Ceol na nOilean.

I know of an entire book (in Irish) devoted to the song. It was published in 1960 by S. O'Duibhginn and includes many versions of the song - presumably with sources. Unfortunately, I may not have time to locate a copy.

Thanks for the efforts so far.

Regards
