The excellent folk/bluegrass trio Northern Lights are in concert at the Abbey Inn, Newlay, Leeds on Saturday March 3rd. It's free and the music should start around 8:30pm.

They are a great live band so if you can come, you're sure to have a fab time.

The pub features beers from local micro breweries and is CAMRA's most improved pub of the season.

Yeah, despite being a decent pub, they serve lager!

Just in case you didn't know, Northern Lights run the excellent Thursday night session at The Half Moon, Pool-in-Wharfedale and the monthly concerts at Pannal Memorial Hall.

I went down to the Abbey on Saturday night to see Northern Lights and what a great night. They raised the roof and Chris on Bass even tried to raise the ceiling! Perfect venue to watch the eclipse of the Moon during the Bands sets. I'm now looking for ward to a whole weekend of Great Music in July. I'm sure more details will be forthcoming of this event.

This Monday is a P. M. T night featuring our very own CuJimmy and then on Tuesday The Abbey Inns song and musicians session which is friendly and Fun.

Cheers Tyke! It really was a tremendous evening wasn't it? It vindicates Pete's brave decision to feature proper music as opposed to the pseudo karaoke that often masquerades as live music in pubs!

I believe the Summercross, in Otley, is similarly trying to promote real music for Saturtday nights. More power to them!

Yep, It's P.M.T. on Monday. Along with cujimmy, we're featuring Roger Davies, The Allensmith and Mark Chambers. It's completely acoustic (no mics), laidback and fun.

Next Saturday at the Abbey we have Rae Bailey (actually a duo, Mo and Sharon, who play regularly at our Tuesday sessions). It's not folk exactly, but it is exciting and fun. Should be another fab night.

You are correct Wayne, the Summer Cross is doing live music each Saturday withg decent beers as well including Old Bear's Bruin.

Sounds like the Abbey and the Summercross are aiming for the same thing. Great music, lovely beer (and I can confirm that Bruin is a delicious drop. A real,dark session beer. But then all Old Bear ales are excelent!), and friendly atmosphere!

At last, we have some pubs trying to do something different on a Saturday night!
