My mom used to sings this great song, but can't remember the name of it. Here are the lyrics:

I often think of home, de oo le aa When I am all alone and far away I sing an old refrain, de oo le aa For it recalls to me a bygone day

Hey, do you think "Sine Nomine" could be the name of it?

Actually, the wisecrack is just to bring the question to the top. I swear I've seen or heard the song, but can't find it now. I wanted to search the Levy Sheet Music Collection for it, but Levy's down right now. Maybe one of our Esteemed Colleagues here will remember it. You've come to the right place, Fiona. Somebody here must know it.

The name of the song is "The Old Refrain" and is fairly well known in Ireland.
I'll check for the words in main memory and backing store if nobody else gets there first.
A singer called Sean Dunphy (I think he is in Canada now) recorded it, if memory serves me right.

The Old Refrain was in a 1936 musical called The King Steps Out. I've heard Deanna Durbin sing it but my favourite is Paddy Reilly's version.
