On March 24, 2007, the World Folk Music Association will return to the beautiful Rachel M. Schlesinger Concert Hall and Arts Center in Alexandria, VA to honor folk legend Odetta with a Special Lifetime Tribute and Concert.

An extraordinary evening is being planned for one of the 20th Century's most important artist/activists, whose voice has been a bell of freedom and social consciousness throughout the world. Odetta has influenced thousands of artists including virtually every major folk and blues artists of the last half century.

In addition to Odetta, the performers scheduled* to appear include: Tom Paxton, Ronnie Gilbert, Janis Ian, Oscar Brand, Josh White, Jr., Donal Leace, Jesse Winchester, Carolyn Hester, David Amram, Madeleine Peyroux, Side by Side, and other surprise guests.

In addition to the live on stage performances, a large television screen will be utilized to present performers who will be unable to attend in person, including Pete Seeger, Peter, Paul & Mary, Sweet Honey in the Rock, Tom Rush and others. Film highlights of Odetta's life and career will also be shown. This event will be videotaped and is planned to be included in a documentary currently being produced.

All seats are reserved; there will be no general admission seating. Tickets are now on sale and range in price from $40 to $85 (5% discount through March 10th). The "Golden 100" seats and Box Seats include tickets to the reception after the show, to be held at a nearby hotel
