Did anyone else see Newt on the news today? He finally told the truth. He admitted having an affair while he was trying to get Clinton impeached for his Monica adventure.
Can you say Hypocrite?

He was at great pains to make clear that his support for Clinton's impeachment was NOT because Clinton was having an affair: it was because Clinton LIED about it. Whereas our dear Newt didn't LIE about it. But, it's easy to see who the real cocksucker is in all this, and it ain't Monica.

Kendall....Kendall..........Newt said his situation was different though. And he wouldn't lie or anything.

"dear Newt didn't LIE about it."

... just that he didn't mention it at the time...

The Oath for a Court hearing says "The truth, the Whole Truth, and nothing but the Truth" for many very good reasons... so in the eyes of legal systems NOT TELLING (which, if you remember was no small part of the howl against Clinton!) 'the whole truth' - or keeping back 'part of the truth' IS a lie...

Now that he has 'confessed' the Christo Nutter Right can accept him as their Pressie sucker Candidate - being so well known, he can delay his announcement till near the end of this year with little detriment - by which time he will have been 'forgiven' as he has now been 'open and honest'... :-)

Minor oversight on his part, Robin.

"Minor oversight on his part,"

Oh dear, I DO hope that when elected (with the Christo Right behind him, everybody else just might as well pack up and save their money now!), he will not then be prey to the sort of 'minor oversights' that Georgie Boy has been accused of regarding Iraq and WMDS....

:-)

Another minor oversight, Robin. You people just take hundreds of thousands of deaths TOO seriously.

Neat parallel there BTW. Swaggart was slamming Bakker for doing what he was doing, and Gingrich was slamming Clinton for essential the same thing.

Haggard slams gays, while getting his sweet stuff meth and lovin from his gay lover-drug dealer; Newtie is bangin the bod while puffin' about slick Willie's willie. Hypocrite is a Greek word--means "actor" or "role player" (as in a play). Newt is a baaaaaad man...and a WORSE actor. Heck I thought maybe our next POTUS. So much for that idea. Rev. Ted could lead the prayers at the innauguration. Whoopee.

In an Associated Press article 3/9/07 entitled "Gingrich had an affair at the time of Clinton's impeachment," Gingrich argued in an interview, with Focus on the Family founder James Dobson however, that he should not be viewed as a hypocrite for pursuing Clinton's infidelity. "He was being impeached on perjury and obstruction of justice." He then said, "I drew a line in my mind that said, 'Even though I run the risk of being deeply embarrassed, and even though at a purely personal level I am not rendering judgment on another human being, as a leader of the government trying to uphold the rule of law, I have no choice except to move forward and say that you cannot accept...perjury in your highest officials.'"
The article then went on to say that reports of extramarital affairs have dogged Gingrich for years as a result of two messy divorces, but he has refused to discuss them publicly. This is the part I really enjoyed. "Gingrich, who frequently campaigned on family value issues, divorced his second wife, Marianne, in 2000 after his attorneys acknowledged Gingrich's relationship with his current wife, Callista Bisek, a former congressional aide more than 20 years younger than he is."
Then, the clincher:"His first marriage to his (my caps) FORMER HIGH SCHOOL GEOMETRY TEACHER, Jackie Battley, ended in divorce in 1981. Although Gingrich has said he doesn't remember it, Battley has said Gingrich discussed divorce terms with her while she was recuperating in the hospital for cancer surgery!!!(my exclamation points) Gingrich married Marianne months after the divorce."
What gets me is that despite these revelations, as someone pointed out, he'll just wait till the stink dies down and then become the poster boy for the religious and Republican right. Now, that's just wrong.

Clinton's mistake was to even talk publicly about his sexual indiscretions. He should have acted totally disgusted...said "That is NONE of your business or anyone's business. My wife can talk to me about stuff like that...you people can't. Get lost!", and just held to that.

But he panicked, and tried lying about it. Bad move. One lie always has to be covered by further lies, and it just gets worse and worse. Ask Bush and Cheney about that...

No wonder Diogenes gave up and quit.

Someone recently said that the main industry of Washington was destroying other people.

This is nothing new, of course. Back in 1940, FDR accused Wendall Wilkie of having a mistress when it was he himself who had the mistress!

um.

He didn't lie about it. Hate him. That's fine. Expected, even. But don't be stupid. Clinton's impeachment WAS about lying under oath. You may not like it. You may resent that, after all the digging of a special prosecutor (one you didn't like, rather than a Fitzgerald) ALL he got Clinton on was purgery. But that IS what Clinton was "gotten" on. He lied under oath.

Gingrich never made a public statement about his private life.

But you can rest easy. Gingrich will, unlike Clinton, suffer for his indiscretions because for those who might vote for for Gingrich on ideology, marital infidelity DOES matter.

There is NOTHING hypocritical in Gingrich's participation in the impeachment proceedings. The fact that he was having an affair was dispicable, but not hypocritical.

Yeah. Right. Like insuring contracts for additional C-130s were issued to a plant in Newt's home district, even though the military didn't want or need them. And I believe his first wife about the divorce discussion while she was recovering from cancer surgery -- that's a REAL MAN for you. And when he was asked if he ever smoked pot when he was in college, he responded "Well, we were all in grad school you know!" He's a jerk and an ideologue. And I don't hate him; he simply disgusts me.

Newt is at least in the same despicable league or club as Clinton is...and perhaps worse. Mr. Gingrich should have recused himself.

Adultery is such a breach in trust and I find it unconscionable that any fair-minded decent human being could break what should be one of the most sacred of oaths.

Humans will always be tempted, but there are some things one human just should not do to another with whom they pledged a loyal, intimate partnership.

Big article in the Wall St Journal recently (today maybe) about Gingrich. I'll check for it later.   Gingrich is trying to position himself as an "idea man". Those of us on the other side should wish him well---and hope he gets the Republican nomination for president. There are LOTS of Republicans who don't like him---mainly due to his despicable personal life.

He would be a easy candidate for virtually any Democrat to beat--probably wouldn't even get solid Republican support.

From Wikipedia:

Newts can take several years to reach sexual maturity. Their main breeding season is between February and June. They hatch as tadpoles from eggs laid in ponds or slow-moving streams. In the case of triturus even brackish water is used, but most species are more picky. (see image on the right) Then they undergo metamorphosis, during which they commonly leave the water, only to return to the water to live out their adult lives. During the time right after metamorphosis, many North American Newt species go through a phase called the eft phase. In some cases their skin changes color, but efts always live their life on land, almost never seen in the water. Only when the eft reaches adulthood will it begin to live its life in a more aquatic fashion, and may rarely venture onto land. Many newts will live out their adulthood on land and only visit water to breed.

"Mr. Gingrich should have recused himself."

Livingston did and it didn't make the Democrats love him. In fact, they still claim that he is a hypocrite, even though he resigned rather than judge Clinton.

Quotes:
"We had oral sex. He prefers that modus operandi because then he can say, 'I never slept with her.'" - Anne Manning (who was also married at the time.)

"We would have won in 1974 if we could have kept him out of the office, screwing her [a young volunteer] on the desk." - Dot Crews, his campaign scheduler at the time

[In the book] "Men Who Hate Women and the Women Who Love Them", [I] "found frightening pieces that related to my own life." - Newt.

"I think you can write a psychological profile of me that says I found a way to immerse my insecurities in a cause large enough to justify whatever I wanted it to" - Newt, speaking to Gail Sheehy.

"She isn't young enough or pretty enough to be the President's wife." - Newt, on his first wife.

"I don't want him to be president and I don't think he should be." - Newt's wife Marianne.

"If the country today were to move to the left, Newt would sense it before it started happening and lead the way." - Dot Crews, his campaign scheduler throughout the 1970s.

Oh, yeah. I hope he DOES run for President
