I recently heard this song. The Title may be Let Her Go Down but I'm not sure. Author and chords would be nice too.

Thanks a bundle

Don

Is this the one you're referring to?:

The Mingulay Boat Song

Hill you ho, boys
Let her go, boys
Bring her head round
Now all Together
Hill you bo, boys
Let her go, boys
Sailing homeward, To Mingulay

What care we though white the Minch is
What care we for wind or weather? .
Let her go boys
Ev'ry inch is
Wearing homeward To Mingulay

Hill you ho, boys
Let her go, boys
Bring her head round
Now all Together
Hill you bo, boys
Let her go, boys
Sailing homeward, To Mingulay
Wives are waiting on the bank or
Looking seaward from the heather
Pull her round boys And we'll anchor
Ere the sun sets at Mingulay

Hill you ho, boys
Let her go, boys
Bring her head round
Now all Together
Hill you bo, boys
Let her go, boys
Sailing homeward, To Mingulay

Lyrics - Hugh Robertson
Melody - traditional

It's off 'Sails of Silver' (and probably others) - I was just listening to it - What a co-incidence!

NoMattch is repeating a common mistake -
Lyrics - Hugh Robertson

That is not the name of the songwriter!
ROBERTON!!!
Everybody note. There is no S in his name.
And the Mingulay Boatsong isn't the one asked about anyway.
OK, I'll calm down now.
Robyn

[I often seem to have "musical coincidences". I wonder if we should start a thread on them?

Today a thread was raised mentioning the song "Scorn not his Simplicity" that I was only listening to a couple of hours earlier, by the Dubliners. But maybe that's not so strange, as the imminence of St Patrick's Day had influenced my choice of listening, and may have influenced the poster's thoughts too.

One things that has happened to me a lot over the years: I have a largeish collection of records (vinyl and CDs), and some of these records will go for years without me playing them. Then one day I'll be leafing through them, and think "I haven't played that for ages" and put it on. Then maybe an hour later I'll put the radio on, and nurdle me grungers with a bogling fork if they're not playing the very same record, that I hadn't heard for years, and only just played at home. That has happened to me several times.

Just coincidence - but has it happened to you?]

Sorry for the off topic aside!
