Subject: Glenfolk at the Abbey From: GUEST,Wayne Date: 16 Mar 07 - 05:19 AM The outstanding Otley band Glenfolk are appearing at the Abbey Inn, Pollard Lane, Newlay, Leeds, on St Patrick's Night, Sat 17 March. If you've ever been to their Woolpack session at Otley Folk Festival, you'll know that that play a highly infectious concoction of great folk songs from all over the British Isles. Even the most grouchy, arms folded, come-on-then-you-gits-entertain-me cynic will be singing along with gusto. Do come down if you can. There's no entry fee and I can guarantee you'll have a fine time! By the way, The Abbey has just won the accolade of CAMRA pub of the season and well deserved it is too. Five real ales from local micro breweries and Tetley's for the unhinged! Diolch Wayne |

Subject: RE: Glenfolk at the Abbey From: GUEST,Wayne Date: 18 Mar 07 - 02:22 PM Many thanks to Glenfolk for a tremendous night of entertainment at the Abbey last night (Paddy's). The pub was buzzing as the band played brilliantly for more than two & a half hours. They might be as Irish as a team of Six Nations champions, but they gave us classic after classic. The audience clapped, danced and sang the night away. Some wonderfully tenuous links to get non-celtic stuff in - "Irish sailors used to sing this on their trips Down Under" (South Austalia). "This one's by Trini O'Lopez" (If I had a Hammer)! Fantastic Night! See 'em, if you get a chance! |
