Well Robin you need to speak to Mick and Angie about that. However don't forget Mick Haywood leads the Whitby Sea Shanty Group Coblers Monday and the Group are Booked Guests During Whitby Folk Week. Members of the Group include Phil Jones who you will have meet collecting Monies in the Endeavour for the RNLI. I do not know what his official if any link with the RNLI is but let's just say he does more than his bit for the RNLI in Whitby. He spends most of Folk Week Running too and from the Fleece in between sets with Coblers Monday to the Endeavour. You can catch them all at the Moor and Coast Festival again this year. Coblers Monday

I was talking to Bob Auty recently and he tells me that ppl like Mick and Bill Price and Colin Cater (I didnt meet him until 1974 ! in Essex) and Tom Daniel all use to frequent the Dewsbury folk club I think in The Shoulder of Mutton which is just Batley /Birstall in those early days

If Mick & Angie are going to do another fund raiser for the RNLI how about telling us here, always happy to put something in for the RNLI. I know the Endeavour raises a lot of money each year with their Shanty sessions and they let everyone know how much they have raised, sort of an unofficial target for the next year, how about Mick & Angie doing the same.

The Batley Raggers at the Wine and Spirits Vaults I think I've been there Ray a few times but I don't know how long Mick had been running it as a Folk Club. Was Tommy Daniels who wrote Poverty Poverty Knocks involved with the Batley Raggers?

Sorry Ray my Dyslexia kicked in I thinks! When I said Twenty years of running a Club I was I was referring to Angie Haywood. Mick was I believe involved with the first Whitby Folk Week. Which was how long ago?

Mick has been involoved with folk clubs more 40 years

he used to run the Wine and Spirits Vaults at Batley/Birstall probably in the 70s

The Whitby Folk Club did not repeat its Grand Turk Folk Club Night last year. The moved up from the intimate downstairs bar to the Main Friendship Concert Room and had a charity fund raising for the RNLI. It was a great night and it was packed out Kitty. I can't remember just how much was raised but it was a lot of money. Typically of Mick and Angie they did not, as is there way, go in for a lot of Publicity about the Clubs Good deed.

As you probably know yourself Kitty the time and effort it takes to keep a Folk Club going. Thanks should be given to Mick and Angie for keeping the Whitby Folk Club going all through year rain or shine.

I must remember to ask Mick when he ran his first Folk Club. Angie however being much much younger than Mick will not be able to claim as many years as Mick but my guess over twenty years. As for Liam Haywood he has been attending The Whitby Folk Club all his life.

Who knows what Mick, Angie and Liam will come up with for this years Folk Week they certainly have had a quite a few brilliant ones over the years.
George

That's if the Grand Turk is there for Whitby Week Kitty. Sadly the ship is up for sale, so nobody knows what might happen.

We are moving to thursday evenings from April 5th.

News travels fast, we only put it to the committee last Wed. 14th. March.

We have Bingo in the big hall ,and cant use it for rowing season on Weds. we need to do this ,so changed days, for all year.

We also avoid Big Screen Footie.Hoorah says Angi.

lots and lots of love Angi, Mick and Liam
