Mudcat milestones passed

18 Mar 07 - 11:28 AM (#2000213)
Subject: Mudcat milestones passed
From: Bill D

I was out last night, and slept late this morning, so I didn't get to watch it 'live', but sometime last night, Foolestroupe started thread #100,000 and Richard Bridge got post #2,000,000.

Joe Offer made a little celebration out of post #1,000,000 a few years ago...but the next million went so fast it caught us by surprise.

It's been an interesting 10+ years.

No wonder it seems like a lot of threads.

A hundred thousand threads! Wow!! Even discounting, say, a third for completely mindless and inane flops and discussion of black-and-white sitcoms only available in the Orkneys, that is an AWFUL lot of interesting conversations and shared points of view!!

Amos!!! I have never known you to post such a nasty and uncalled for comment!!?? Did someone piss in your cornflakes this morning? If not, may I? I dare say, few share your point of view on this one.

Wot's an Orkney?

It's a unit of Scottish Currency

There's 10 Orkneys to a Shetland and 10 Shetlands to an Arran.

100 Arrans is a Macrihanish

They're not used much these days but some out-of-the-way little islands still use them to barter fish and whisky

What kind of a thread was it? A thread like all threads...filled with those succinct and pithy comments that alter & illuminate our times!

....creeping forward in its petty pace from day to day....unto the last full measure of obscure puns and erudite balderdash.

Ah, it's GOOD to be home!

The latter wouldn`t be traditional.....

I think the assumption must be that everyone was constantly pissed anyway ...

... how else can this phenomenomenomenon be explained (let alone pronounced or spelled.

Ps - if something isn't a phenomenon, is it a non phenomenon?

And are there many non phenomenons in pnom penh?

I think we should be told!

Is it worth raining on the parade to note that because of deletions (silent or otherwise) and then the crash, we are really not accurate on the thread numbers or post count......but its close. Of course we do have to take into consideration those 3471 posts and 159 threads made by ShambyPamby that were deleted just because Joe hates him.

Oh well, let's celebrate anyway! I think Richard Bridge should be awarded something from each of our Mascot Icons. Cleigh O'Possum offers a puff up his ass and The Little Pissant offers, uh, well, let's just say "the usual." Also, could someone send him a "Guide to Catspaw Humor" since he never gets the joke and often thinks I am being serious.

Now we forge ahead. We could also forge some horseshoes and have a tournament or some railings to redo the front porch of the Cafe. The world may be our oyster but someone still has to shuck the fuckers!

Spaw
