Tune Req: UK TV theme - Apollo / moon landings

Can anyone tell me the name of the music used as a theme tune to introduce the UK TV coverage of the Apollo space missions/moon landings?

It used kettle drums and went sort of:

DA   DA    da-DA   boom-boom boom-boom boom-boom boom-boom

G   /c    /g f# /    hi-lo       hi-lo       hi-lo       hi-lo

Everyone I ask, can sing it instantly but no-one knows the name.

Well that looks like Also Sprach Zarathustra written by Richard Strauss. It was also used in the film 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Now you mention '2001: A space Odyssey', I think you're right

Thanks, I'll check it out

Sorry to nitpick, but that isn't quite how "Also Sprach Zarathusthra" goes, is it ?

Isn't it more like

C /G /C/ E-Eb ?

Maybe so, but it's still the tune that I meant.
