12 Mar 97 - 08:05 AM (#3026) Subject: Names and artist of two Canadian? folk songs? From: main@rrreston.attmail.com When in Canada recently, I heard two songs on the radio One referred to tne "Northwest Passage", which was a frequently recurring set of words and it was sung by a group without accompaniment. The other song was called, I think, "The Raising of the Mary Carter Rose." I would liketo locate recordings of these two songs but have failed to find the artists or albums on which the songs appear. Any help would be much appreciated. Ken Main

From: dick greenhaus Hi- Both songs were written and performed by Stan Rogers; both are in the database. There's a typo in the title of Northwest Passage, but you can search on Passage; the other song is The Mary Ellen Carter. We'll fix the typo in the April edition. |
