PERFORM was set up to ginger up the folk (song) circuit in the UK in whatever ways we could. We were trying to sort out good practices for folk clubs, good practices for performers and to find ways to increase audiences across the board. Among the things we achieved in the South East (where I was at the time) was a showcase of performers at the Bracknell folk festival and a "liven up the new year" tour in January and February one year where we went to a number of pubs in different areas and put on informal singing sessions.
It was also largely due to PERFORM that we were able to run so many benefit concerts for Nic Jones .. the news of his accident came on the first day of our conference in Manchester.

There used to be a folk festival at South Hill Park & Arts Centre Bracknell up till about 10 years ago, but not sure if it exists anymore. Used to be great for me when I lived there as I lived next to the park.

Here is the link to Bracknell Folk Club held at the Arts Centre. You could get in touch with them and they would know more.

Definitely no folk festival at Bracknell for some years now! There are folk events at the Wilde Theatre at South Hill every so often, and as Villan has pointed out a folk club (but as far as I know that is now a singaround type club - haven't seen any guests advertised in years)

Bracknell Folk Festival was a biggie way back when Perform existed, in the late seventies and eighties.

Of course I was but a babe in arms then .....
