26 Mar 07 - 02:59 PM (#2007722) Subject: RE: female folk guitarists from California From: GUEST Why, are you suggesting that there's a female folk guitarist from California who's better than Nina Gerber? I find that hard to believe. |

26 Mar 07 - 04:38 PM (#2007794) Subject: RE: female folk guitarists from California From: open mike Nina is so much MORE than a folk guitarist- she is the ultimate accompanist and can blend with the style of many musicians. She plays both acoustic and electric with ease and style. She played with Kate Wolf for many years, and is one of the performers at the Kate Wolf Fest. We often joke that there should just be an easy chair on stage for Nina, as she joins every band! http://www.ninagerber.com/ Laurie Lewis, although mainly a fiddler, also plays guitar. and Sally Van Meter is another California girl who is an awesome player....her guitar is a slide/dobro. |

26 Mar 07 - 07:50 PM (#2007976) Subject: RE: female folk guitarists from California From: GUEST,Greycap Laurie Lewis is great, but, in my humble British opinion, Nina Gerber does it for me, too. Joan Baez is super as a vocalist and interpreter of fine material, her track record is impeccable, but her pickin' ain't near Nina's stuff. |
