If you reference 'A Maid in Bedlam' on the database in the upper right corner, it'll take you there...

Vic,

the words are in the Digital tradition (DT) database here. Although we like helping people to find lyrics, and the subsequent discussion which sometimes ensue, we would appreciate it if you would search the DT yourself before posting a general request. The search box at the top of the forum page can be used in several ways, the most usual being to enter a word in this case Bedlam. You can also do exact match searches by enclosing a phrase in square brackets.

Does anyone have access to the lyrics to "A Maid in Bedlam"? John Renbourn did it ages ago; a hauntingly modal tune. If it's the same song that's stuck in my head, the last line of each verse goes "I love my love because I know my love love's me.", though that may be a different text to the same tune. Any help out there?

Put "Bedlam" under 'Filter' and set time for 30 days.

if you go to the "forum home" by clicking on that link, you should see a box marked filter. type bedlam in that box. change the "age" box to read 30. then click on the refresh threads button.

alternative: since "A maid in Dedlam" is in the database, you can type the word bedlam in the box in the upper right corner of this page and press search. it should be the second item found

Thanks to those who responded. I found it. Interesting, though, that when I first tried the database with "A Maid in Bedlam", it couldn't find it. Hmmmmm.

Lynn, I think nobody of us knows perfectly what the best search strategy is.
A maid in Bedlam doesn't find it [A maid in Bedlam] does Maid in Bedlam doesn't [Maid in Bedlam] does maid bedlam does

If you don't use the [] the theoretical idea is that the search engine finds all songs with these words in it irrespective of the position of these words. Obviously that isn't true, see the above examples. My advice is, never use words that appear in nearly all songs (like a, in) exept in a [phrase]. Mostly this advice works, but I don't know why.
