AHEM, An Announcement!!

Friends and fellow Mudcateers, having given long thought to the future of folk music as we know it today I feel it must be time to move on. I think a new avenue of endeavor should be explored. Based on these thoughts I find it necessary to take my leave from this wonderful cyber community so that I may fully explore the wonders of the New Age and Hip-Hop. I may also undertake the exploration of some Metallica in my quest. I shall miss the camaraderie of this great group. If Paw and Cletus are ever found I would appreciate being kept abreast of there whereabouts and further adventures! As the old song says, So Long, It's Been Good To Know Ya!!!

APRIL FOOL!!!!

Since breathing and the Mudcat have become two of the more important things in life, please remember my special day, APRIL 1st, a day my wife says was dedicated to a chosen few, myself included! She says the nicest things!!!

DON'T DO IT BANJ........IT WAS PROBABLY SOMETHING YOU ATE!!!!!!

Think of your health, both phsical and mental...think of the exalted rank almost within your grasp, that of General F*****P which you have worked so hard for and so richly deserve.......Think of your family and what they'will do without you, as you'll be reduced to a drug ravaged body and a mind that has flown. Think of your fellow Mudcateers......Just use the tiniest segment of gray matter and you'll not do this to yourself......Can't you see where you're headed? You may not know that the charges against you have been dropped, so it is no longer necessary to hide out.

If you do not find these arguments with nerit, bugger off!!!!

Hey Banj,

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the song you quoted a good ole C & W song.

Ah, Banj', We shall miss thee, yet I know that with the eventual death of brain cells, the incessant degradation of personality, and the ultimate failing of your hearing you will cease to mourn your lost freinds here on the Mudcat, and turn to those pillars of the metal life, Pam sniffing and self mutilation. I wish you continued success in your shock treatments, the burns should leave really rad scars. Oh, and since yer passin', I need to know if you've left a will. Are we all mentioned? (Never, ever tell a drummer that you are becoming a metal-head. In those darkest hours of isolation and remorse for my own addiction to the skins, I have reverted to Led Zepplin and Ozzy Ozbourne to solice me. Hey, you can HEAR the drummer on those kinds of records!) That last statement is not the current beliefe of this poster nor does it represent the politcal stance or belief

Your mileage may vary....

What's this? A Heavy-Metal Banjer? What does banjo feedback sound like when fed through a bank of Marshalls? Truly, the mind boggles.

Mikal,

If you want to hear some drumming of the rock kind, don't forget Crossroads by Cream, as well as In-a-gada-da-vida!

Why do people in the metal life sniff Pam? Who is Pam? Where are her rights in all of this?

Pam is a spray can of cooking oil used to grease pans. I think they use alcohol as a propellant. So that's what they would be sniffing, unless they are doing it to stop their metal from rusting. After all they wouldn't want to finish up like Banj or Catspaw.

Bert,

It isn't alcohol that propels PAM, it is some other chemical. Most hydrocarbons are intoxicating. The middle of intoxicating is the word toxic. The "feeling" of high provided by these substances is just the first sign that they are poisoning you. But some people like that. Unfortunately, these chemicals also cause damage to the nervous system and to those organs that attempt to remove toxins from the system (liver and kidneys, esp.)

I believe the "sniffing" of PAM and of other hydrocarbons (gasoline, glue, lighter fluid, etc., etc.,etc.) is an attempt to alter the sniffer's state of consciousness. These chemicals will do that, but the state as described by users is not one I would seek. However, if your current state is pretty bad, you might choose one that is less bad even if it is still bad. I would expect that heavy metal music achieves similar results so the two go together.

I suppose how Pam smells would have a lot to do with what she had recently eaten and where she had been. (And even what she had been doing while she was wherever she had been!) I suppose the variety of possible smells is endless.

In answer to the question, Why do people in the metal life sniff Pam? Probably because her sister was already occupied elsewhere! I wonder if her last name might be Tams? Pam Tams?
