11 Apr 07 - 08:17 AM (#2022074) Subject: Vernon Oxford From: bluerabbit10 I ran across this country singer (popular in 60, 70 80s) but can't find any source for the lyrics of many of his songs. I think he is now a Pentecostal Preacher doing gospel songs. There is a box set of his songs on several sites; but I was hoping to find a site with the lyrics for personal use in tabbing some of them to play around with at my home. Thanks |

11 Apr 07 - 10:04 AM (#2022164) Subject: RE: Vernon Oxford From: dwditty I am not sure of any lyrics sites for Vernon. I am betting you would get a response from him (www.vernonoxfordcountry.com) if you ping him there. I first heard of Vernon one day while on Paltalk. Vernon took the mic and it was immediately evident that this was the real deal. What a talent! A few years later, one of my daughters gave me a DVD: Chase the Devil-Religoius Music of the Appalachians. Was she ever surprised when I knew of Vernon, who has a segment in the film (which I highly recommend). dw |

I have an lp tucked away somewhere. He was not in the mainstream of country in the decades he performed but most likely would have been if he had come along 20 years sooner. |

I have Vernon's 'box set" and he also sent me a dvd of "Power in the Blood," about his visits to Ireland (I think Ireland) and he sings some songs in different environs...I must watch it again, Iknow I enjoyed it the first time. I think he is really great. Verne |
