Like you, the National is my only interest in horse racing. Brings back happy memories as I was brought up near Aintree. Fingers crossed! |

14 Apr 07 - 03:47 PM (#2025364) Subject: RE: BS: Grand National From: The Shambles Never again. A few years back, the whole family had money on Eshaness (as we used to live there) and we all watched it win the race - only to find the result null and void. Mind you about half way through this year's race I wondered if there was any name that may ring a bell in the same way. The name Silver Birch came to mind as it is my wife's favorite tree and she has just posted one - for our brand new Grandson. I then watched it win, of course. |

15 Apr 07 - 12:28 PM (#2025982) Subject: RE: BS: Grand National From: sian, west wales Well, I went £1 each way on Billyvodden, BotharNa and Liberthine, and 50p each way on Silver Birch and Slim Pickings. Most years mine all fall or get pulled up before they finish the first circuit. I suppose my un-luck holds to some degree, as Silver Birch and Slim Pickings were the least profitable of my bets. Haven't been to see how much I'll rake in - maybe £35-ish? I had them all at 33 to 1, and my bookies are paying out on the first 5. sian |
