14 Apr 07 - 09:10 PM (#2025569) Subject: RE: He Could Have Shot Hitler From: Little Hawk Well, you never know about these things, do you? (assuming the incident really happened as it is said to have...) Every human being has to decide in each moment what is the right thing for them to do, and Tandey did so. I cannot fault him for that decision. People assume that without Hitler there would never have been a Nazi movement and another great war in Europe in the 1940s. Maybe so...maybe not. No one will ever know. The very punitive treatment of Germany in the Treaty of Versailles might well have led to the later rise of a very extremist government in Germany regardless of whether or not Adolf Hitler had survived WWI. If it had, we'd have someone else in his place to label as the evil man responsible for the whole mess.... |
