May Day In Chingford

Greetings from Sunny Walthamstow.

For want of anything better to do I, and a few like minded citizens, will be taking to the field behind Queen Elizabeth's Hunting lodge, Chingford, London (UK) for a pinic/ soiree/ tug o' war / space hopper racing, in honour of the first of May.

All are welcome. If you wanna bring your instrument and have a noodle, please feel free. We won't be on pub premises (though there is a big one right next door) and unless we really upset someone, we should be able to pretty much please ourselves.

Nearest station is Chingford rail (runs into Liverpool Street)about a 5 minute walk away. If you need any more info, PM me.

Frivolities to start about 6.30pm - bring a tankard....

Last one in doesn't get a lollipop.... *G*

Please allow me to add my call for support for the Cairns (Far North Queensland) May Day event. Danny Spooner will be leading a cast of thousands (I wish) with some stirring union songs and it'll be a hoot! Munro Martin Park in the CBD from 10am till stumps at the pub!

I shall be languishing in the arms of Brahms that night, but have a good one!

I do realise that many folkies will already be occupied on that evening, just thought I'd see if anyone fancied chancing their arms... *G*

I was stuck at choir practice, but if it helps, we did do three folk songs as arranged by Vaughan Williams.

Then I watched a fox dither about between me and the gate... 6 ft away from me, a youngster with a mouth full of chicken takeaway.

Now I'm having a gentle Belgian beer and looking at the glorious full moon that's illuminating my ivy.

Evening all!

Well, we came, we saw, we bounced about a bit......

Though less than ten people turned up (Kevin Sheilds popped by too) we still raised good cheer and the general concencous was that we'll have another go next year!

You have been warned! *G*

Would have spent more time but was having a vitally important Walthamstow Folk Club committee meeting in the pub next door.

Well sorting out a few things with the others who run it with me, committee may be stretching things a bit!

Not music related, but was amused when I asked the barmaid for a medium sherry. She replied that they only did small or large.
