26 Apr 07 - 07:46 AM (#2036156) Subject: RE: New Brighton Folk Club From: Fred McCormick Ok. Go ahead and confuse me. I live on the Wirral about 5 miles from the seaside resort of New Brighton. I've just been racking my brains trying to remember where there might be a London Road. |

26 Apr 07 - 08:02 AM (#2036164) Subject: RE: New Brighton Folk Club From: Dave Earl Now Alex I know this pub and I would have said it is in the London Road. Just a little way past St Peters Church as you go North init! Are you going to be in the main bar or have you the use of a function room? Have you been in touch with any other folk people in Brighton - there are a few but we go to clubs out of Brighton (Lewes,Seaford,Horsham etc.) Will your Irish sessions include the lads from The Pond, The Bugle or Mrs Fitzherberts ? Dave (resident at Lewes Arm and former resident at Seaford Club) |

26 Apr 07 - 10:03 AM (#2036237) Subject: RE: New Brighton Folk Club From: Dave Earl Mr Happy and Fred are indeed confused this is about a new club in Brighton (as in on the Sussex coast) not New Brighton on the Wirral. Dave |

26 Apr 07 - 10:15 AM (#2036250) Subject: RE: New Brighton Folk Club From: Mr Happy We're not confused! The thread title is misleading! It says 'New Brighton Folk Club' whereas it ought to read 'New Club in Brighton ' |

26 Apr 07 - 10:55 AM (#2036291) Subject: RE: New Brighton Folk Club From: Fred McCormick Almost correct. I was confused but not for long |

01 May 07 - 08:37 AM (#2040256) Subject: RE: Old Brighton Folk Club From: GUEST,Alex Sorry, it was meant for the City of Brighton on the Sussex coast!! Yes please let the elves modify titles if you like. I did put the link address to the myspace details and to details of the pub (including location) in the first post! You are all very welcome anyway! Dave- it is in the function room upstairs. I'm sure some of the regulars will turn up from the other Brighton Sessions. I play fiddle down the pond most weeks. Fitzherberts is on TUESDAYS aswell. But they only play Kerry fiddle tunes really... ours is more mainstream. It's NOT a competition, the more the better as far as I am concerned. Infact, I don't get to the Bugle much, because we go to the session in the Plough, Rottingdean (Sussex) on Sunday afternoons. 01 May 07 - 11:06 AM (#2040371) Subject: RE: New Brighton Folk Club From: Schantieman So...is this a new folk club in Brighton, a new folk club in New Brighton, a new folk club in old Brighton or even a new folk club in old New Brighton? Or maybe an old folk club in .... Of course what we'll need soon is an old folks' folk club. Brighton might be a good place. Or Eastbourne. And where do we stand in relation to Brighton Camp? (First time I heard the name of this tune I thought it was an instruction on how it was to be played....) I don't have a coat today - it's warm out..... Steve |
