09 May 07 - 09:49 PM (#2047507) Subject: Lyr Req: Cold Glencoe From: Apache Hi, I'm looking for the lyrics to the song "Cold Glencoe", I've heard it by the band "Rise". It's a retelling of the 1692 Glencoe Massacre in Scotland. Also a different song called "The Massacre Of Glencoe", I have the lyrics but I have no tune. If anyone knows the tune to this, would they be so gracious as to share it with me. Thank you in advance. Pete. |

I know the chords for Massacre but chords on a page don't tell you how to sing the song. All the links in the threads are dead to the external pages that were mentioned as references. EDIT - Just found a video of the song on Youtube and it's not the song I though it was. It's "Cold Glencoe" by Rise that I'm looking for, not the Jim McLean "Massacre Of Glencoe". |

11 May 07 - 04:32 PM (#2049470) Subject: Lyr Add: COLD GLENCOE (Gerry Geoghegan) From: Effsee These are the lyrics as in the insert of the CD:- COLD GLENCOE Lyrics by Gerry Geoghegan The north wind blew and the snow came down We stamped out feet on the cold hard ground Though we were by duty pressed We looked for shelter, we asked for rest We knocked their door, as free men should They gave us drink, they gave us food They took us all in every man We lived with them as we made our plans CH: Know us by our hearts, know us by our shame Know us by the part we played in William's game We did bide with them for many days We raised our glass and sang their praise They saved us from our fearful plight But we cut them down in the dead of night As they slept upon their beds We stabbed their backs, we cracked their heads Though some few did take to flight They froze to death in the pale moonlight Our deadly work we did with pride The ground ran red with blood that night As quietly we went around And burned their houses to the ground Sisters and their brothers cried Children watched their mothers die We did our worst and we did it well We damned our immortal souls to hell We saw our work by the light of day Some fell to their knees and prayed Some thought hard upon our fate As the men that history would hate Hear me as I speak to you, of all the evil men can do Their is none worse that I know Than what we did in cold Glencoe www.riseband.co.uk Hope this helps, can't help with the chords though, sorry. |
