10 May 07 - 02:47 AM (#2047646) Subject: Louth Folk Club - new venue? From: Sooz On Tuesday evening the bar in the Olde Whyte Swanne was empty while the back room was packed with Folk Club attendees. The landlady presented the club with a letter stating that in future she would be asking for £25 to hire the room. Result - in a fortnight she can have a completely empty pub while the club meets elsewhere (probably the Mason's Arms). Saves all that washing up and a trip to the bank I suppose...... |

08 Jul 22 - 01:34 PM (#4146743) Subject: RE: Louth Folk Club - new venue? From: GUEST,Graham I'm a bit late on this thread. The order of events I recall: my brother Keith Brown and I started the club in 1970 at the Wheatsheaf but we only stayed there a couple of weeks. It was then to the Crown & Woolpack and then The Poacher. Initially Liam Duffy was to be a resident but the logistics proved unmanageable. I went to Uni in Nottingham and Keith gave the club up soon after. |
