Pete's eager is a folksinger who personally defines, and often defies, and then decries the term. Peas Price is the wife of Ray Price the country singer---and never Mark Twain shall meet. So they made sausages that were half sawdust, because, these days-----------------------------------it's hard to make both ends meat.

Fer Pete's sake! Let's get back to mushy peas!

Forbidden fruit a flavor has
That lawful orchards mocks;
How luscious lies the pea within
The pod that Duty locks!

Where my dad grew up in the the Brisbane suburb of Newmarket - there used to be a nearby set of Chinese vegetable gardens. I was reliably informed by both him and his father that the gardener would come around the streets with his barrow calling

"Hello Missy, Want a pea?
Turn-i-up and lett-u-cee!"
