Subject: Request for folk act
From: GUEST,Aidan Kelly

Hi. I am a volunteer at the Epping Ongar railway and help organise our events (full list at www.eorailway.co.uk). I am looking to add to our list of folk acts and wondered if anyone was available for booking. As a volunteer society our funds are rather limited but we are willing to pay a nominal fee for anyone who can help.

The dates I need to cover are Sunday 27/05 and Sunday 26/08.

If you can help please e-mail me at twelveacres@hotmail.com

I will be out of the the country until Friday 25/05. If you are able to do the 27/05 please e-mail Penny Pohl at pocket38@hotmail.co.uk who will sort out the arrangements

Many thanks

Aidan Kelly

what does this involve doing?
is this playing on a train?
in a rail way station?

o.k. apparently this is in England,
and there are other events scheduled

Hello,

The railway volunteers are very friendly and welcoming and it is an interesting piece of work to do. It involves riding the rails in a diesel railcar (Instrumentals needed as the noise masks the singing)and singing and playing on the platforms.

Good fun if you enjoy being in the open air and like trains!

Best wishes,

Peter

The Epping and Ongar has recently acquired some Finnish steam locomotives, but can't run them because the locos' gauge is too wide. Thought you ought to know this interesting fact. Meanwhile, the railway folk gig has been boosted considerably by the EOR's booking of Lynne Heraud and Pat Turner - if these silver-voiced sirens can hack it, then surely the folk doors are opening wide.

I'm an avid and adoring fan of closed railways being opened up once more, the North Norfolk Railway and the Ffestiniog "deviation" being two of my proudest moments. I have also travelled on the Colne Valley railway, the North York Moors railway, the Bluebell railway, the Severn Valley railway (I was taught to fire and drive an Ivatt 2-6-0 on this line!), the Forest Of Dean railway, the Gwili Valley railway and numerous others. I would like to apply for the EOR gig, pretty please!

This sounds absolutely wonderful, but as a singer without instrument I wouldn't be much help I'm afraid! Hope that your request here has helped!
